Kompas Hotel, Dubrovnik

The breakfast was phenomenal with so many choices. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The elevators were very fast.

We were on the 9th floor, which was good, but we were disappointed that we looked out over the beach rather than the Adriatic Sea. But the view was still pretty good. The pool was disappointing. I would have expected a larger, more attractive pool at a hotel of this caliber.

Huge and very clean room. Very comfortable bed. Lovely amenities - toiletries, towels, little chocolate each night etc. Very luxurious feeling and attentive service. Nice spots to swim along the rocks nearby the hotel. Dubrovnik old town accessible by short bus ride. Breakfast buffet was great.

The pool is quite small and therefore very busy. The gym and pool could be open longer. Not the hotel's fault, but the nearby beach is a bit busy/dirty compared to others in Dubrovnik area, and the restaurants nearby are both mediocre and super expensive. For the price, I'd consider staying either closer to Dubrovnik, or further out away from this resort area with better beaches. BUT for a good deal, its a really lovely place to relax for a few days.

As always, holidaying here every second year, and coming back to hotel from the ALH group is a wonderful experience. Our two girls loved every minute of the swimming pool, and being close to Dubrovnik, but yet not right there made for a relaxing and easy going holiday. With a short taxi ride you can be in the old town experiencing all that, but head home to somewhere less bustling without skimping on the experience.

Clean and spacious rooms, very caring staff, good breakfast, well connected to the old town, yet felt relaxed, safe and laid back. The staff were very helpful and caring, especially Igor and Toni. Keep up the good work!

Refusal to serve tap water and leaving guests no option to order bottled water. I know that water can be filled in the shower, but it's inconvenient to carry water from the room to the breakfast table every morning. I doubt if allowing customers to ask for tap water will drastically reduce the number of orders for bottled water.

Breakfast was amazing with great variety. Location is good, with the cliff walk nearby. Nice views of the water from the lobby & our room. Easy walk to various restaurants & bus stop.

The view of public "beach" and run down facilities nearby weren't great to look at.

Very stylish, modern, tranquil ambience. It's a wow when you walk into reception. Room was lovely with a great view and huge bed - very comfortable. Great location with restaurants and bars close by. Can also get the bus into Dubrovnik easily.

No real issues. The shower could have been more powerful but that's being very picky.

The view & location was amazing! We loved it. Our room was on the top floor somewhat close to the lobby but it was so quiet we never heard a sound in our room. We're so glad we chose to stay here away from the hustle of the old town. It was close enough to easily get to but away enough that it was quiet & peaceful. We could walk along the promenade & there were many dining options to stroll to.

Beautiful renovated hotel. The view from the lobby was spectacular. The room was spacious and comfortable for our family of 4. My kids loved the bathtub and the swimming pool. The breakfast was amazing, lots of options and variety, even non dairy milks and gluten free. The gym was clean and had good equipment. Walking distance to the beach, restaurants and a beautiful walk along the coast. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

If our room had been on a higher floor we would have had a better view of the sea, but it was quiet and peaceful.

Location a little out of the way.

The location was fantastic, the beach was a particular highlight, with crystal clear water, it was a perfect swimming spot. Dubrovnik was a 15 minute drive away, which was perfect for exploring but also made coming back to the hotel feel peaceful and secluded rather than the holiday feeling like a ‘city’ break. The staff were fantastic, particularly housekeeping who came in twice a day and the little goodnight chocolates were a nice touch. The food was also delicious, the menu was expensive but on half board it felt like you got great value for money. Off season it is a buffet for breakfast, with a menu for dinner, off which you could pick a starter, main, and dessert.

Drinks are very expensive (although this seemed to be the case across the whole of Dubrovnik), and the indoor pool in the spa area had noisy drains and the lighting was quite bright and harsh which meant that it wasn’t as relaxing a ‘spa’ experience as we were hoping for.

Room very very comfortable and extremely clean. Seaview - marvelous. Good night chocolates - sweet surprise (every day). Breakfast and dinner - plenty and very tasty. Staff - very pleasant and they really put effort for you to feel comfortable. Tnx to late stay, garage (parking) was always availible. Tnx for making our stay in Dubrovnik (kind of homeymoon) unforgettable.

Inner pool was unexpectedly cold. Outside pool is not heated, so in begining of november it was more pleasat to swim in the sea.

We had a wonderful view from our bedroom balcony, as you do from most of the hotel. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The breakfast has a brilliant selection, all was tasty and freshly made. The cocktails are also excellent. The pool has lots of loungers available and, again, a great view. Off-season the pool bar wasn’t open, but the staff doesn’t stop you enjoying a few brought-in drinks. The location was great, it’s in a very nice and quiet part of Dubrovnik. Twas easy to get in/out of Old Town. There are lots of lovely restaurants and bars on the waterside walk (along the ‘cliff’) that I recommend going for a walk and enjoying a few drinks by the water.

The room was comfortable and clean, whilst the breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful too.

The indoor pool was colder than expected. However, we didn't need to use it as we were fortunate to have very pleasant weather for October and the outdoor pool was pleasant to swim in with excellent views of Lapad Bay.

Highly recommend! Spacious room overlooking the sea and went above and beyond to cater for a birthday stay!

The hotel was exceptionally clean, well decorated and very welcoming. It also smelt amazing! (You will understand if you visit this place) outdoor and indoor pool were lush. We used the spa the day after we arrived with was really calming and relaxing. The location is great, no to much in a taxi to old town and a lovely walk along the coastal part of the area.

Everything about my stay there was excellent. A particular waiter named David, from Macedonia, made my stay at Kompas wonderful.

Besides the good location, right next to the beach, it has great services and facilities, including diversified breakfast, spa, gym, pool, etc. Also, the seaview from the hotel is amazing.

The location, the room and the service were all very good. The view and access to the beach is fantastic. Nice food and drink options within walking distance of the hotel.

Some the waiting staff in the restaurant were quite grumpy. There is not enough sunbeds for the hotel, if you're not down there by 8am you wont have a space. The wifi doesn't work.

The evening buffet.

Very clean, room and view were fabulous . The little touches, such as the bottle of wine, vase of flowers and chocolates left every day in our room. Spa experience was brilliant.

Need more bar staff as it was busy. The staff member, when checking out of the hotel during the night, was not the most pleasant . Didn't even acknowledge us when we got up to leave the hotel. It's supposed to be 24-hour reception service. This was definitely not a professional manner in which we were treated.

Great location right on the Lapad promenade. Beautiful hotel with all the updates you’d need to have a luxurious stay. The outdoor pool area is gorgeous and the breakfast is amazing! One of our favorite hotels in all of Dubrovnik.

The hotel is right on Sunset Beach with great views of the Lapad bay . It is well designed, very clean and well maintained. Their service and staff are exceptional. We stay here every time we come to Dubrovnik and it never disappoints.

Nothing to do with the hotel but the public beach adjacent to the hotel doesn’t have the amenities it used to have after the beach bar shut down.

Beautiful location overlooking the bay. Close to the beach, bars and restaurants and a short taxi/bus ride away from the Old Town. Bedroom was clean and bed very comfortable. Pool area was spotless and had a lovely view out over the sea.

Breakfast buffet was fine, could do with more hot breakfast options. Difficult to secure sun loungers by the pool, could definitely do with more.

Hotel Kompass was the perfect place to stay. It was away from the hustle and bustle of Old Town, but also close enough. There was a bus you could catch into Old Town a short stroll away or if you have a car they park it for you for free in the hotel car park. There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel to choose from. There is a lovely walk you can do around the waters edge with plenty of openings that you can go down a few stairs and jump into the sea. The staff were so helpful and always super friendly. The rooms were a great size. The breakfast was excellent where you could sit both inside or outside. And the bar upstairs on reception level was a lovely place to have a nightcap. And that view when you first walk into the Hotel, A-mazing!!! Just loved our stay here and will definitely be back!

Reception area and floor 10 bar area looks really smart, views are stunning, modern interiors. Very clean. We had a room on the 9th floor fabulous views, again cleaning staff 10 out of 10, and a nice little gesture at end of the day to give guests couple of chocolates. Spa area lady could do enough to make you feel welcome, had a lovely massage. Gym decent (air con not the best)

Totally disappointed by pool area. Just a load of cheap sun loungers and parasols stuck on a concrete surface, you need to add plants or something to split it all up. We also thought the bar staff in pool area were just miserable - the guy just wasn’t friendly, didn’t really want to interact with customers, it’s a holiday destination the sun is shining & both the guys weren’t very engaging. We also thought overall the staff didn’t really go that extra mile, people are coming for a holiday, make them feel welcome. Breakfast staff were friendly. We also thought the food was very average. Also the beach opposite the hotel had a beach club that must have gone bankrupt - looks a mess, and also dangerous with parts of the decking having been ripped out, the local council need to sort it, has so much potential this resort but we won’t be returning - we recommend Hvar if you really want a nice holiday in Croatia.
