The Bannister Hotel, Samaná

The location is secluded from the town which was exactly what we wanted. Beautiful views of the ocean and a lot of greenery. The pool at the front of the marina is the best thing of the hotel. Staff are all 10/10 very friendly and willing to help. Breakfast was delicious!

The property is very old and you can tell. The lobby is beautiful but the rooms definitely need upkeep. Bathrooms don’t work properly, shower barely has hot water. Gym only has one treadmill and very basic material. There are no activities organized by the hotel. We thought the price was expensive for the value.

Bathroom bathroom to cramped. A long taxi ride to get here. It's a bit off the beaten track so don't expect to go out to other locations.

If you enjoy elevator music that never changes, you’ll love this place. The menu was just okay, but some dishes were so salty they were inedible. I also went for a swim in the cordoned-off section of the ocean, which had a floating wooden raft. When I tried to climb onto it, I found the metal stairs were rusted at the bottom and had sharp edges. As a result, I cut myself badly and was bleeding. I reported the incident to a cabana attendant, who informed management—apparently, they had already been warned about this issue. Sadly, I won’t be coming back.

Everything - view, 2br room, great breakfast - all except the false promise of 2 tennis courts!
The courts were horrible, even dangerous for playing. I’m a player; my son is a tennis professional. We were shocked that what once may have been playable courts were allowed to deteriorate - and still be advertised!
Truly bait and switch in an otherwise wonderful hotel.

The pool by the bay was amazing.

the bathroom was leaking, the toilet was not cleaned, soap lying on the floor - when we raised this to the staff - we got no help
I asked for some meds but did not get anything from the housekeeping.
There was no staff in general in the hotel and the water had not been cleaned around the hotel.

The staff were not friendly, and our experience was disappointing due to several issues. Our booking stated it included a 30-minute free massage for everyone on the reservation. However, when we arrived, the staff seemed unaware of this offer. After some discussion, they only provided us with one massage instead of one per person as advertised. Additionally, our reservation included early check-in, but when we arrived, we were told this was subject to availability, which was not made clear beforehand.

We found cockroaches in the kitchen, deteriorated fridge, one trash can in the bathroom and other hide. We found it the day of checkout. They offer breakfast from 7am. It’s a lie. They arrive at 7 and start service at 8.
We had to cruising in our boat and change our schedule to get breakfast and at the end, we got nothing. Personal no friendly

The use of space in the rooms are not well thought out.
It needs maintenance.
The restaurants are not good and are expensive.
Smoke from the pizzeria got on clothes left outside.
The staff should be trained better.

The staff and hotel itself were fabulous, so very lovely, would definitely stay here again.

The food here was awful, everything else, wonderful, so just plan to cook your own food if you stay here.

The views, the marina, were stupendous. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfasts were scrumptious!

I paid for an ocean view, received a very partial ocean view. I complained and changed rooms after the first night. There are only 2 options for night dining. They should really promote the rooms with full kitchens!

At the beakfast the chef mixed the ingredients to our omelets at the breakfast. Me and my wife have asked for omelets with different ingredients.He mixed all the ingredients and he made 2 omelets with a variety of imgredients but not what we have asked for.
The extra charges at the final amount to pay are too much!!!

Facilities are showing need for upkeep. The 2bd suite was not probably clean, bathroom fixtures broken, found insect inside the fridge.

The service was really good. Friendly staff and always willing to help with a genuine smile on their faces.

Breakfast food was excellent, property is really pretty. A pleasant surprise. Love that pool area too

Staff needs to be attentive and prompt. Waaaaay to slow and unresponsive. Restaurant was almost 50% out of food …. “We don’t have this, that, and this”. Come on!

Spotless, outstanding staff from the maids to the manager.

Food for dinner was limited and boring after two days. Bar drinks were very expensive and not generous.
