Very quirky hotel

The area

We stayed in the Winelands Airstream and was big enough for the three of us. Different experience waking up in a concrete jungle, we loved it. Clean interior and comfortable bed

The location is great but won’t recommend late night walking outside in the street.

The complimentary water froze in the fridge! Usually, hotel fridges can barely keep anything remotely cold.
Great shower. Slept very well.
Friendly staff.
Excellent breakfast - order off the regular menu plus there was a fresh continental spread.
Interesting to stay in such a historic building.

Quirky boutique hotel.

We loved most of the staff, especially Mishe. She was extremely professional, solutions-driven and always blunt/honest regarding safety/other questions that would pop up. Always there to support and provide tips. She understood the clients, their needs and worked on their behalf.

This is the complete opposite of another staff members (one man, older, in the front desk) (cannot recall his name), putting obstacles and trying to rip us off concerning transfers etc.

If we return to Cape Town, we would choose this hotel mainly because of the extremely positive experience we had with the staff.

The hotel organises private parties in the rooftop. These used to end at 10 PM max, however the problem is the noise inside the room. The staff provided earplugs.

Also, the breakfast was not buffet style, so it takes longer than expected but the food is tasty.

We also had low shower pressure but the water was warm.

Nice central location with excellent food for breakfast as well as for dinner. The portion sizes are modest, which I prefer, but do look at the deals displayed on the wall. The reception was welcoming and the room was spacious and quiet.

Cannot fault the place. I was leaving early and they arranged a breakfast box, this took some reminding, but all in place in good time before departure.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel! Parking in the hotel’s garage gave us a sense of security. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, especially the freshly baked bread. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay.

The complimentary water bottle had a broken seal and seemed to contain tap water. It was fairly noisy during the night, which is understandable given the central location, though the double-glazed windows did help reduce the noise.

The staff was amazing! They were very courteous and helpful. They looked out for us and took us to a place where we wanted to go!

Unfortunately we didn’t have a view out of our room. But everything else was wonderful

Room was really spacey and clean. Breakfast was OK with pre-defined options which seems to be almost the same. Staff was really helpful when required.

while the location is pretty central (two blocks away from the city sightseen bus stop), the surrounding are not ideal for tourists. We even got mugged two blocks away from the hotel at 3pm (at daylight!). Also the hotel reserves the second floor for weekend's events which get pretty loud.

Due to the hotels central location it was very noisy at night (but to be fair to the hotel they did leave out free earplugs which was very helpful!)

Noise from discotheque next door playing very loud music until early morning.
One Saturday night, party hosted by non-hotel guests with extreme loud music vibrating in the rooms
Had the worst rump steak ever in SA. It was like it was defrosted, fried and served. The manager did apologize and compensated it with free dessert.

The on site restaurant made it easy for meals during the evening to eliminate venturing out at night which may have been unsafe.

Loud music was prevalent from neighbouring venues in the front rooms on Long Street. I would suggest booking rooms at the back of the hotel to reduce this disturbance that can go to 2am.

I had an omlette, it was very good, the service was good as well.

The coffee machine was not working so we could not have cappuccino etc, only filter coffee, it was nice coffee though so no complaints.

Restaurant was excellent, food was good and always fresh and hot. Staff excellent

The hotel was good but more for a younger group. It is set in a vibey site and atmosphere was loud right through to 6h00 in the morning.

I had an amazing stay at the Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel! The location is absolutely strategic, right in the heart of Cape Town, making it easy to explore the city’s main attractions. The hotel offers great value for money, with its unique design and comfortable accommodations.

A special mention goes to the staff – they were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and always ready to assist with any request. Their exceptional service truly made my experience even more memorable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cape Town!

One thing to note is that the street can get quite lively at night due to the many bars and clubs in the area, which may result in some noise. Additionally, it’s important to stay cautious while walking in the evening as there can be interactions with homeless individuals, which might feel uncomfortable at times. Despite this, the overall experience was fantastic, and I would still highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cape Town!
