Tango de Mayo Hotel, Buenos Aires

The design is beautiful and full of character. The main tango theme is very well executed, and the building itself is quiet and charming. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we especially loved the terrace with its breathtaking views. Breakfast was good, although the variety and number of options could be improved. A great bonus was the self-serve tea and coffee station in the lobby in the evenings. Very thoughtful and convenient. The location is excellent: close to public transport, main attractions, and many cafés, restaurants, and convenience stores. There are plenty of sightseeing spots within walking distance.

The only issue we experienced was at checkout. The hotel charges payment on departure, and although our Canadian cards worked everywhere else during the trip, including in Chile right before and after, all of them were declined on the first terminal. It was stressful, especially before a flight, but fortunately a second terminal processed the payment immediately. It didn’t ruin the stay, but it did leave us with some extra stress at the end.

Nice location in the heart of the city

The room was nice, just wore. Broken closer doors, broken lamp shades, stained curtains and scuffs on walls. Lobby furniture could use a cleaning also.

Breakfast eggs and sausage were always luke warm or cold. Noisy as windows are not sound proof.

Very large comfortable rooms. Bathroom with shower...very clean. Very silent. Exceptional staff.

Okay, I didn’t really like the room decor as it was too red for me. But that is up to personal tastes, so can't really complain about it.

Like everywhere else in B.A there is is noise from the city. This is though inevitable.

Great location on Avenida de Mayo, within walking distance of the main attractions. Friendly and professional staff, and a good complete breakfast.

During our first stay, the room on the first floor was very cold due to poor window insulation. On our second stay, the room was much better, with a smaller window and proper sealing.

The hotel was in an awesome location - very central and in a beautiful spot, close to a lot of attractions and the subway. The breakfast included was great for tourists as it had both Argentine options and eggs, cereals, fruit and toast etc. The hotel recommended the El Querandi Tango show which was an unforgettable experience that we will treasure for years to come.

It’s probably outside the hotel’s control but Buenos Aires can be noisy. We were kept awake by people on the street yelling at 3am on a Monday. This didn’t have a huge impact on our stay as we understood we were staying in a central location where lots of people go out etc

excellent location, in the heart of BA! Staff were helpful and welcoming. We had a very comfortable stay here, rooms and lobby were clean! Shower was excellent! Breakfast was okay, and fitness centre wasn’t fit for purpose!

The breakfast isn’t good. I recommend you do your reservation with no breakfast included. Barolo Palace is just in the corner and it’s fantastic ! And you are free to wake up and go for it anytime! I love Buenos Aires !

The location was good, btoh if you're going around in taxi or public transport. The staff was friendly and helpful. I slept very good, and the bed was comfortable. The rooms are equipped with everything you need

The windows don't block the noise well, so you hear the street quite a bit. The breakfast was not of great quality. The bathroom could use a bit of maintenance (shower head, silicone around the sink, etc)

Glum, slightly terse staff at breakfast and a reasonable buffet but limited healthy cereals. No tea and coffee in our room and the service in the lobby never seemed to be available when we needed it. It was a shame that the rooftop bar was not available while we were there.

This is a lovely hotel. We stayed there multiple times in our travels around Argentina and always left hugely impressed. The rooms are lovely, the bathrooms excellent and the breakfast good. The staff were excellent - from front desk through to housekeeping they were helpful, knowledgable and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. The rooftop bar is the cherry on the cake! Thank you and I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will stay there again if I am lucky enough to return to Buenos Aires

We loved our stay at Hotel Tango de Mayo. The location is in a nice area near the Congress. Obelisk was about 20–25 minute walk and the port area took us about 40 minutes or so. The staff was helpful and friendly,clean rooms and comfy king bed… love the Tango theme! The breakfast is the same every day, scrambled eggs, sausages , meat/cheese, toast, cereal, yogurt and pastries… nice that they include this and was plenty to get our day started. Gym had 1 bike, 1 treadmill and a few weights Here’s the thing…. If, like me, you booked it because of the amazing reviews of their Dome rooftop bar, check their website since it is only opened seasonally. We checked in May 5th and missed out however they do allow you access, just no service. I think the hotel was a good value.

Not possible to open the window of the room. Breakfast can and should be substantially improved to reach a 4* level.

A bar would have been good. In the off season, the rooftop bar is closed. You can get a drink in the restaurant but there is no where very comfortable to sit and drink it

My room was unexpectedly big and bright, with a king size bed and good size washroom.

The scrambled eggs for breakfast were too soggy. The coffee also could use improvement. I purchased coffee at Martinez Cafe which was excellent. I was surprised they had no face clothes in the room.

Nice comfortable hotel. Central location. The hotel had a bar/restaurant which we used a couple of times. The rooms we had were big, showers were good and the beds were v comfortable. Beware there was some street noise but it wasn’t too bad. If you are a light sleeper, might be an idea to request a room away from street. Nice lobby area.

We reported a problem with one of the safes in one room but nothing was done about it.

Great location and rooftop bar! There’s room is comfortable and spacious. Staff is fabulous! The plug ins don’t work well so it’s difficult to charge phones. We gerry rigged ours so we could charge them. The rooftop bar has plants and lights. It is open seasonally, though. I’d stay here again!

While it’s a very good location it does mean it’s a bit noisy with the road traffic.

Comparing this to other hotels we stayed in the same week. Bathroom was very good and large. Great location with many cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

Breakfast buffet was a bit lacking (comparing this to other hotels we stayed in in Buenos Aires in similar price category the same week). Not a lot of choices. Loose fruit available but only melon cut up. Staff was a bit disinterested in making it a nice experience for guests. All in all still good value for money.
