Tango de Mayo Hotel, Buenos Aires

The staff were excellent and very helpful. The hotel has a great nostalgic feel to it, unlike many soulless big named hotels the Tango de Mayo felt like home.

Some of the fittings were a little bit worn around the edges, nothing that a little bit of maintenance couldn't handle. Just took the edge off the period decor a little bit.

The receptionist was very kind and professional. The building itself was interesting and had a lot of character. The breakfast was good and had a nice atmosphere.

Good location. Nice and very clean rooms. Comfortable bed and pillows. Every afternoon, free tea/coffee and cake in the lobby. Everyday bottled water in the room. I would gladly stay in this hotel again.

Air conditioning (fourth floor) not working properly, BUT on being informed the reception changed my room without any problems. The windows in the rooms do not open, so you have to rely on AC. The breakfast selection is just satisfactory.

The hotel charm and confort is exceptional for contained price. This has been my preferred hotel in Argentina over 6 weeks trip. Thank you. Personnel is also helpful and flexible

Loved the Art Nuevo, French style. Excellent location with a delicious breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly and helped with transportation arrangements from the airport and to the port.

The hotel was original building and the design and architecture was beautiful. A little old fashioned but we enjoyed the different sty instead of a more modern look. It was central to a lot of old historic buildings so enjoyed looking at the architecture around the city.

The included breakfast was very average and food standards were low.

We were blown away by the value for money of this hotel. We kept reminding ourselves that 3 great nights here cost about the same amount as one night at the Brooklyn La Quinta -- a horrible place! Our room was really big and had an actual king sized bed (we expected a queen and feared we get a double). The decor was a bit loud -- but the hotel is called "Tango" and it wasn't too over done. Our bathroom was luxurious --great shower, nice thick towels. Breakfast was really excellent and varied enough that we didn't get tired of it in three mornings. There's a big lobby with lots of seating which was full at times with groups getting ready to leave, but it was perfectly acceptable to hang out there with luggage before check in or after check out -- and the hotel was happy to hold luggage for us for most of our first day and last day. Staff steered us to a very enjoyable restaurant 6 blocks away where we ended up eating two nights, called Chiquilin. They also advised on where to change money safely, helped with a Subte (subway) card and were generally very kind.

Picky -- but some hooks in the bathroom and better ventilation or different air freshener in the hallway would have made a nearly perfect place perfect!

Wanted to sit and have drinks on the roof top terrace, unfortunately it wasn’t open for this. It is seen as one of the best when asked for recommendations on Google, disappointing especially as we were staying there.

Quite a few nibbles had to be looked at: telephone not working, wardrobe clothes rail fell off, Aircon just couldn't get cold enough, cold water tap fell off in shower.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Very convenient location. It was beautifully decorated with an antique theme. Very nice breakfast buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Reasonable price by USD. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends if they visit Buenos Ares

We were so glad we stayed at this stylish hires with a very up-market feel. Our room was very much above the ordinary, with a lot of character from the tango theme, and the included breakfast was very nice. We would stay here again without hesitation.

We loved everything about Tango de Mayo Hotel. The rooms were great. The rooftop terrace was a bonus. Breakfast was consistently good. Lots of restaurants near by the hotel. Their staff were so friendly and helpful.

A really delightful Hotel in Buenos Aires, beautifully decorated, great breakfast, fastidiously clean accommodation. Will return without hesitation.

The gentle concierge who helped us to check it and explain the facility in the hotel was so considerate and well mannered. We felt really specially treated and the room quality was great given that it’s such an old historic building. Water pressure was strong enough to wash all the travel tiredness :-)

The hotel is right in the center of Buenos Aires. It is save to walk around, except when moving in crowded areas. Unfortunately we experienced a pick pocket incident. Apart from that we had a great time here. The Roof Top Restaurant with spectacular views over the city is in the same building as the hotel Tango de Mayo. Take one of the hop on hop off buses to get an idea of the town. November is a good time to visit because it is spring time and the parks invite for leisurely walks.

Beautiful property, fabulous location, comfy big rooms. The rooftop bar was closed when we were there but it was fun to buy wine and snacks from the supermarket across the street and take them to the roof ourselves- in fact this might be better (and certainly cheaper and more private) than when the bar is open to the public.

Terrible breakfast (the only hot food was greasy mini sausages and cold scrambled eggs), the rest was pretty boring too.

Tried to organize transport from the airport but it never arrived. The website said there was a restaurant but it was only open for breakfast

It was a small slightly old-fashioned hotel that made you feel very at home and comfortable.I would recommend it for couples. The neighborhood is nice and safe and has a good selection of restaurants.If we go back to Buenos Aries I would stay there again. Also, the staff was very helpful and welcoming.

The location on Avienda de Mayo is perfect. The staff were extremly helpful in all aspects. The breakfasts were well presented and consistent with a 4 star hotel. The room was very clean We did not have any noise problems on the 5th floor

The water shut off twice in the 5 days we were there but they reset the pump ( I was told) and it was on again in 5 minutes ; even at 5am. The safe did not work and they could not fix it.

Fabulous location. Very authentic & tasteful decor. Found it very clean. Breakfast was fine. Not enough choice on hot drinks. Staff friendly & helpful at reception.

The location, staff and breakfast were great. Nice smell everywhere. They left a beautiful letter for our honeymoon, champagne and gave us a beautiful room. !
