Hostelling International, Boston

I loved the community spaces and how close it was to everything. Having a communal kitchen was awesome! I liked how close I was to everything. To Beacon Hill, both parks, Back Bay, and train stations. It made getting around very easy.

Nothing was about the property itself but I did get my headphones stolen from my bunk. I left them in my bed near my pillow. They were there in the morning when I left, but when I got back they were gone. It was either the staff or one of my hostel roommates. So get a lock and put EVERYTHING in it. Don’t be naive like me and assume people won’t look through your bunk. Other than that my stay was awesome.

Property was clean and staff were accommodating. Beds were comfortable and rooms were dark. Restaurants, T stations (Chinatown Forrest Hills and Oak Grove), and CVS Pharmacies within walking distance. Complimentary earplugs available at the front desk. If you only need a place to sleep and clean up, then this will fit the bill.

Communal kitchen can be loud when studying in conference room next door. Lockers are on the small side.

Cleanliness

In all of the times that I have stayed here, the bathroom lighting is appalling...it is difficult to shave one's face with the light supplied in the bathrooms.

I like the area the hotel was in.

I didn't like the cleanliness of my bed sheet. There was a hairy item on my bed.

Clean and very central in downtown. People are polite during the sleeping time.

I liked the room, nicely decorated and big lockers (you do need to bring your own lock)

The air inside the room was very stuffy. Couldn’t really sleep as bed had no air circulation.

Close to the Tufts Center station. There's a 7-11 nearby. The room is clean and has a good table for remote work in the early morning.

Since it's a hostel, sometimes I can hear people chatting loading around the elevator hall from my room.

The staff was amazing! My flights were early and late so I had to store my bag before checking in and after checking out and it was so easy. The bathroom situation was actually perfect, there were a ton of single occupancy restrooms with toilet/shower/sink which I liked a lot more than a traditional dorm bathroom situation. The linens were clean, I would recommend bringing a lock cause I had forgot and the lockers don't have a built in lock.

It was a little toasty in the room, but it was a hot day and cooled off at night so.

staff: The employees offered a quality customer service. They were available around the clock and helpful. I also found the staff to be easy to talk to and it seemed like they were happy to answer any questions I had. products and services: I thought it was great that I could do laundry at the hostel. I really needed to do laundry and I preferred not having to go to a laundromat. I could even buy single use laundry detergent. How practical! location: the HI Hostel in Boston was in a central location and close to public transportation.

I was surprised to arrive around 9pm on a Friday and find the room I stayed in was already quiet with many people sleeping/resting. With the lights turned off, it was difficult for me to go through my luggage and get settled in. It surprised me because I had just been told at the front desk that quiet time was 11, yet I felt I had to be quiet near my room even earlier. It wasn't a huge deal and I also can't fault the hostel for this. When I mentioned this to the hostel staff member at the reception he even said I could turn on the lights if I wanted to. I just did not want to disturb people who might be tired from travelling. While this was not a huge issue for me, I do have a suggestion for how this type of situation could be avoided in the future. Perhaps the hostel could include an option in the sign up form for guests to request a room where the quiet time starts earlier. That way guests who would like to get a good night's sleep can select that room and other people, who may be getting it later, such as was the case for me, can get to a room and get settled in and not have to worry about whether they are disturbing people with their noise or the lights.

Minimal amenities - a bath mat, a cream / body lotion dispenser, a writing desk and chair and more lights in the room would have made this so much nicer.

Central location, close to subway, parks and downtown. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of space to socialise, hang out or be alone with your thoughts. Lockers to store bags.

Nothing, although being assigned the top bunk can be a little inconvenient if you’re in a 6/8 sleeper.

The rooms smelled somewhat of humidity.

The location was perfect for my one night stay and the staff was more than welcoming. The morning breakfast was a good start to the day.

The dorm room that I was in was a bit cold and made it hard to get comfortable until I could no longer stay awake, which was about 3 am.

Location is close to all the places to see and attractions. Kitchen area is also nice and clean. It is spacious and comfortable. Rooms are generally clean.

Staff members are a bit snobbish. Only one person (forgot his name) was really attentive and helpful. They should smile more to give the feeling of warmth and welcoming

Victor was very welcome ing the bed very comfortable this place is very good for people who need just a place for a night or two and don't have a lot of money I just hope the price don't go up crazy people like me need this helps with being able to travel. People who stay not cleaning up after themselves places like this you should take care of not making it harder for workers appreciated

It’s near south station, there are plenty of restaurant and tourist attraction around it as well. Very convenient as it is close to the airport too.

When we got in there is some awful smell but afterwards you get used to it. I think it’s just from the floor itself but other than that it looks clean.

One can do laundry. The second floor has a common area. There is an extensive and comprehensive kitchen for guests. It is possible to refrigerate one's food.

It's a hostel. Sometimes in life, you have to take the bitter with the sour.

Really noisy outside. 2 people in my room were loud snorers.

The hostel was having a little welcome party when I arrived, it was so cute! I wasn't able to stay, but it did feel very welcoming and fun.

The rooms could have been a bit more soundproof--I was across from the bathroom and I could hear the door slam shut a lot. I recommend earplugs.

Even though the breakfast had a variety of options I didn’t have any food available for people with intolerances. I believe they could have some other options, such as fruits, and non-dairy milk.

Great activities organized by hostel. Perfect way to learn about Boston. Good and clean facilities.

Sometimes the room was too cold. (Staff was able to fix it but one night was so cold I had to put on all my layers and this was middle of summer).

I like their activities:like yoga ,like a pub tour,and question game about Boston. Each activity was well organized. Appreciated!

I think the restroom was not cleaned quite often enough.in the room ,there need some table stuff.

Room and bathrooms were clean, beds have plugs for you to charge your phone / computers, and the locker is big enough to fit a backpack plus a carry-on. Nice lobby area and massive kitchen area where you can cook, make coffee, work, play pool, etc. Location is perfect, very easy to move around and close to the train station (where you can get an express bus to the airport for free). Friendly staff.

Private room was clean and fit for purpose. Shated laundry was nice to use.

Air conditioning did not work really cold inside tempreture.

Some of the beds are older now. They make screeching sound with the slightest move the person using them make.

The location is awesome, next to the Chinatown. This is one of the best hostels I have booked, it's really nice, comfortable and clean, I enjoyed my stay. Bath room is nice, lobby and kitchen are great places to meet new friends.

Use earplugs if you feel a bit loud outside.

I really liked that the hostel was close to everything: Chinatown, restaurants, Boston Commons, the Prudential Tower, the malls... very walkable. I also liked how efficient the staff was (shout-out to Angelina and superb kindness!). The hostel was very clean. I also liked how cool the rooms stayed during the heatwave.

I don't really have complaints, to be honest.

A huge purpose built hostel. Well designed and great amenities and the location was good. It was a variable age range too.

I appreciate there was breakfast included, but anything other than peanut butter was very quickly gone. Same with kitche hot water availiability.
