Unique style and private. Staffs are friendly with a cute cat.

The service was wonderful, the staff spoke English fluently and were very helpful. Garden room - The room was clean, modern and provided all the amenities that guests would expect. There were thoughtful touches such as a plate of fresh fruits and tea. The lock to the gate was interesting too as they used one that was traditional like in the old days. Location - within walking distance to attractions such as the drum and bell tower, and many eateries along the main road.

Very beautiful hotel in the Beijing Hutong. Staff is amazing, speaks excellent English and is very helpful. The restaurants are great - we loved the Mediterranean kitchen of Restaurant Toast.

Staff were so helpful and kind, always ready with a hot tea when we arrived in each day from the cold (we travelled in January!) and offered to clean room/replace towels/toiletries every day. Loved the location, very quiet, down a hutong with cool bars and restaurants scattered around the surrounding hutongs, was fun to explore, and a short walk to the lake and we even walked to the forbidden city from there too. The restaurants on-site were great and got some nice cocktails from the on-site bar too, very impressed overall

Excellent location. Lots of shops nearby till late and vibrant neighbourhood in general. The staff was exceptional. Extremely helpful and always eager to assist with anything needed.

The breakfast options are a bit limited and the rooms though big enough were a bit impractical (small closets, no hangers in the bathroom, some space for luggage).

4th or 5th stay here this time. I love the room with the staircases and the bed right beneath the skylight. So nice. I visited the Confucius temple - 孔庙&国子监. Turned out it's literally a straight line from 净土胡同 which is right around the corner from this hotel. Took just an 18minite stroll to get there! Amazing. The location is just the Best. 什刹海，烟袋胡同，etc of course are also right around from here. I love walking past the Drum Tower every day, and coming home through 南锣鼓巷 browsing all the goodies. Will definitely come back on my next trip back to Beijing.

The shower head doesn't let out good water pressure.

Couldn’t recommend this boutique hotel enough. Prime location on a quiet side street with tons to see and eat within walking distance. We originally planned to stay in Wangfujing but we are so glad we didn’t - this was a much more lively and interesting part of the city. Staff were super helpful, providing the best recommendations and helping us navigate different aspects of our trip. Breakfast was awesome, both the Chinese and western options. Room was really comfortable with a handful of nice touches added that made it even better.

Staying at the Orchid Hotel has been the highlight of my trip to Beijing. The hotel is neatly tucked away in a very quiet part of the Hutong not far from the historic Drum Tower (can be seen from the hotel’s rooftop). Many landmarks, restaurants, bars, and shops are conveniently located nearby and can be explored by foot — my preferred option. In terms of the space, the hotel’s interior has been carefully designed to preserve the characteristics of the very historic neighborhood while adding a bit of modern aesthetics. Finally, I very much enjoyed interacting with the staff, who were very friendly and eager to share the real Beijing experience with the guests.

The hotel is a true gem, super nice and the rooms are beautiful. A special mention to the staff, friendly and very helpful with plenty of explanations to explore Beijing. Absolutely recommended.

The ambiance is great, the location is fantastic. Instead of the large chains, this has a homey, cosy feel. The staff are also so wonderful. You’ll never run out of things to see as you explore the hutongs. You can also walk to many tourist spots and pedestrian streets.

The toilets were a little old and had mould.

Super nice and helpful staff, very central in Beijing, but still very quiet. Would definitely book again!

This property is in a great neighbourhood which is pedestrian friendly with lots of nice places to eat close by. The hotel also has a great restaurant of its own. The location is a short walk to the Shichahai metro station which goes directly to Wangfujing for the Forbidden City and Qian Men and the Temple of Heaven. You can also walk to the Lama temple and temple of Confucius quite easily. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff - in a country where very few people speak English this is a godsend. The staff here went above and beyond - and with kind smiles and patience with this tourist. They also offered a laundry service which was much needed as Beijing was my final stop on a long trip.

Location right in the center of Beijing's old town, perfect for exploring the city. The hotel is clean, the decor is top notch, the meals and breakfasts are excellent.The staff are also professional and friendly, special mention to the night guard staff and the cats. :)

Everything about this hotel is excellent, the location, breakfast and also the staffs. Considering that is located in the hutong, the hotel room is rated excellent too. Loves the breakfast served in the hotel. The staffs are extremely helpful, and warm thus making our stay a very pleasant one in Beijing. Location of the hotel is centralised, and within walking distance to F&Bs and other amenities. Highly recommended and worth every cents paid for our stay.

The Orchid really shines as a hotel thanks to the lovely staff, who speak excellent English and are more than happy to help with local recommendations, getting tickets for the Forbidden City, etc. I stayed in the smallest room type, which did not have tons of storage space but was very cosy. The restaurants attached to The Orchid are excellent (especially the noodle restaurant), and the hotel is located in one of Beijing’s most beautiful and walkable locations with tons of good food options and high quality local shops nearby.

We enjoyed staying in the houtongs. The bakery on the premises was excellent and the western breakfast choices were very good. Staff spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful. They booked tickets and sorted transport for us which would have been tricky for us to do on our own

The garden room had a skylight but no windows. I would choose a different room next time

Beautiful boutique hotel. Wished I could've stayed much longer. Staff were extremely well organised, going beyond expectations to make sure we were well taken care of. The dining options at the hotel are not to be missed.

The host welcomed us warmly with all necessary informations for getting around and found a solutions to all our requests during our stay. The interior stying is a mix of hip-"western" design and traditional elements. Both on-site restaurants provide great food.  The location is great for exploration of the central area of Beijing.

Be prepared that staying in a traditional courtyard buildings (hutong) comes with the downsides of most historical neighborhoods such as old plumbing and acoustics.

Very characterful and friendly hotel. Loved the location in the Hutong, the four restaurants are great, specially the toast for breakfast. The rooms have old charm but are very well maintained and cleaned. The bed was extremely comfortable. And last but not least, the staff was just outstanding. Very welcoming ans helping and speak perfect English.

Lovely hotel - great location, beautiful and comfortable room, really helpful staff. They helped me get WeChat pay working, download DiDi, work out how to get around town, and where to buy osmanthus cake.

Charming, rambling (as far as you can ramble in a siheyuan) hutong hotel with several attached eateries. Slightly ramshackle - in a good way - and my courtyard room was not huge, but more than adequate with a very comfortable bed and a charming view from the desk at the window. Excellent Chinese breakfast - I didn't try the western option in a separate restaurant/bakery. It's definitely a one-off and well-worth a stay.

Beautiful Hutong Hotel in one of the Old quarters of town. I really liked the location. Nice walkable area with loads of shops and restaurants. The hotel is beautiful. But the best were the wonderful people who worked there. It was our first time in China, and they explained every question about getting around or using Apps, booked our trip to the Great Wall (so much cheaper than booking online beforehand). It’s the little extras like fresh fruits in the room that makes the Orchid special. We really enjoyed our stay!

Lovely boutique hotel, great staff, excellent breakfast and facilities The house cat is really sweet and nice to have around Coffee bar and grinder in the room we booked, with fruit and filtered water tap Their attention to detail is great and shown throughout the property, little things such as turning the shower head to face the wall so it doesn't splash you when you switch from overhead rain shower is an example of things I noticed that you don't see at other places. Would 100% return here on next visit to Beijing

Very comfy quiet room with catering facilities and comfy bed and sofa in a vibrant part of town. Delicious breakfasts and evening menus and handy for many interesting hutongs and for Behai Park. The staff were all so helpful and kind and had given an adorable little black cat a home in the hotel. Sunny roof top seating area.

It was at the expensive end for our budget, but worth every penny.

The staff were so friendly. They gave us so much info on the sites and restaurants around Beijing. They also pre-ordered breakfast for us each morning so that we could go to the sites early to beat the crowds. I would recommend this place for people that are coming to China for the first time because the experience is definitely more authentic in the Hutong areas.

The metro is a bit of a walk, but Didi works fine.

We loved the location nestled in the hutongs, lots of eateries nearby, Nanluo Gu Xiang, Gui Jie is nearby and it’s close to the bus station where we took our Great Wall tour. The vibe of the hotel is lovely too. Our room was lovely with a kitchenette and a home entertainment system (projector and screen) where we watched a movie in the evening

Staff was absolutely friendly and caring. Also they were fluent in English, which you will hardly find anywhere else in China. They even provided a tour through the hotel and provided useful information about the area. We also liked the breakfast, especially the Chinese one.

Water pressure in the shower is quite low, but it is an old (historical) buidling. A self service station for drinking water would be nice in the lobby.

It was incredibly friendly - staff were fantastic and hugely helpful. Everything was very clean and the facilities were great. Brilliant showers for instance after a long day of exploring the city. The location was also excellent in every respect.

Just fantastic. Design forward but also comfortable, great little touches, attentive staff, centrally located so walkable to great shopping/restaurants, etc.

The restaurant/bar on site is definitely catering to foreign tourists (pricier than what you'd find down the street...)
