The Orchid Hotel, Beijing

Exceptional staff. Friendly, helpful and good English. Room private, quiet secluded but close access to communal reception area and activities like learning majong or tasting teas and interacting with other guests if you want it. Great breakfast restaurant that again allows interaction with others for the solo traveller if desired. Quiet alleyway but near busy main streets with old character, lots of places to eat and 15min walk to 2 subway stations. One of my best ever stays in 50 years of travel.

Nothing I didn't like about Hotel Orchid.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They speak English and are very happy to answer any questions and help us get most out of our stay in Beijing. Clean rooms and nice shower. Nice to have a small lounge area in the room, so that there is another place to sit on than the bed. The welcome treat with tea and the free fruit in the room was very much appreciated.

The room is a bit small, moving around the bed wasn’t possible because it fits tightly in between 2 walls.

Great location, very friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful rooms and courtyard with both modern and charming traditional feel. Hotel is part of a complex with trendy bars and restaurants.

Loved the location, the small and quirky room, the associated restaurants. But most of all, I liked the central lobby area with reception set in a bar area that acted as a hub for the hotel. You sat and chatted to the staff and drank tea and met other guests. Worked so well

We loved our room and the small size of the hotel. Both restaurants and our daily breakfast at Toast were really great. We bought pastries each day of our stay from the bread shop. The staff were beyond helpful and friendly, they went out of their way to offer help and local travel support. And the area is an amazing part of the city with stacks of cafes, bars, restaurants, and close to 2 subway stations to take you to other parts of Beijing. We loved The Orchid Hotel. Would stay again.

The property while rustic was super charming.

Highly recommended to anyone wanting to explore Beijing -walking distance to many attractions and great restaurants. The room I stayed in was very clean and had a comfy bed.

A wonderful, tasteful, quirky hotel in a fantastic location in the Hutongs. A bakery, tea house, cocktail bar, and chic and very comfortable room in a self-contained flat. But the most amazing this was the service, which is the best I have ever received in decades of travelling. Incredibly helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel so welcome. We would have stayed here for weeks if we could!

This hotel is beautiful and traditional, located in the old hutongs of Beijing and literally just around the corner from the Drum and Bell Tower and some bustling pedestrian streets full of shops and food. Breakfast options were good, but best of all was the service. The staff were so attentive and made us feel truly taken care of. Would 100% stay here again!

I just did not know what to expect but happy I tried a more Chinese setting!

Tucked away in the atmospheric hutong area down an almost hidden passage thrusted me straight into a fascinating area of Beijing. Lovely staff, who communicated so well before my arrival. A boutique and fresh feel whilst retaining some older style charm. Meal options good. Even gave me pastries to take on early morning trip to Great Wall. Near landmarks like drum tower. And metro a pleasant hutong-lanes walk not far. Fruit bowl, Air-con and dehumidifier created a nice respite from outside humidity (July). Would recommend.

I recently stayed at The Orchid Hotel in Beijing and had a fantastic experience. What stood out most was the delicious food —every meal was thoughtfully prepared and offered a great mix of local and international flavors. The staff made a huge difference; everyone I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and eager to help, which made me feel genuinely welcomed throughout my stay. Special call out to Jihan for an amazing tea demonstration. The location was perfect, placing me within easy reach of some of Beijing’s best sights and vibrant neighborhoods. Overall, The Orchid Hotel offered a wonderful mix of excellent service, memorable dining, and convenience. I would gladly recommend it to anyone visiting Beijing.

The only small and personal consideration is that the beds are soft which isn’t my preference. Otherwise a wonderful stay.

The Orchid is a hidden gem located right in the middle of the hutongs in the most laid-back and chill neighbourhood. We received the warmest welcome from the staff, who helped us plan our stay and gave us a lot of tips especially for the nice spots around the hotel. The room was spacious and very comfy. The hotel has 3 restaurants and a beautiful rooftop, which was super convenient and pleasant. 100% recommend!

Amazing food - top top notch and super service levels . Location very different if you want a break from corporate and predictable hotel rooms . This place is in the old Beijng called hutongs full of small shops alley ways etc . Superb

Beautiful surroundings. Genuine staff. Central location. Yummy food. Cold wine. An oasis of calm in the wonderful craziness of a busy hutong in the heart of Beijing. Thank you for the extra help with the taxi, and your unending patience with a clumsy Aussie.

We booked 3 rooms and each room was different. Facilities were great. Loved the decor. Location was perfect for us too. 5 minute walk and you have restaurants galore!

The food at the hotel was lovely but we didn’t eat there for dinner because we wanted Chinese food and they served Israeli food (not sure why?). The breakfast menu was also the same.

This boutique hotel is an oasis of peace in the middle of the historic old town of Beijing. Since it is located in a neighborhood, we felt the vibes of those who live there. The hosts are very caring and accommodating, be it by providing advice or filling special needs. The real hosts are two lovely cats who can be spotted on the rooftops or countertops... Simply adorable!

The food at Toast was amazing. The Bake (bakery) is also great with excellent chocolate chip cookies! The location is nice and had lots of options for us to find something to eat and buy as souvenirs to bring home. The room was very cute and comfy. Fruits given each day. Extremely helpful and kind staff, helped us on where and how to go to see places. Jie Han was the best :) Overall, hospitality was a solid 10.

The air conditioner was not strong enough to cool the upper part of the room where the bed was — since it's a little bit isolated from the downstairs. But we received a fan that we could use upstairs and it was great.

The staff were super helpful and friendly. The style of hotel was small and it felt rather exclusive but it had 2 restaurants a bar, a bakery attached to it. The food was excellent.

There was nothing not like. The location in a very narrow Hutong street ment access for taxi was a little difficult but the smaller cars managed it. If you were older with mobility issues you should avoid this one due to stairs to get to the restaurant etc

We loved everything about our stay at The Orchid . The staff were very friendly , going above and beyond to help us with bookings , the location is excellent and the rooms small but lovely .

Such a beautiful place. We really hadn't expected such a beautiful room and stylish functional hotel. There's a choice of 2 breakfasts+ western and Chinese. We tried both and both were excellent. The building is very cleverly designed to use available space in an innovative and impressive way. But most of all the the staff gave us loads of time explaining how things worked and helping us have a fantastic time. Like many first time visitors we were nervous but have hugely enjoyed our stay here and the hotel really helped.

I can't recommend this place enough. The staff was extremely accommodating. There were issues with the room (not all power outlets worked) but given that it was fixed promptly while we were out and that it was a room upgrade anyway, it was no deal at all. Loved the location, the vibes, the breakfast. And the bar!

The orchid stuff ist awesome, always reachable by wechat, always someone at the reception and they all talk English!!!! What is really difficult to find in Beijing, even in high class hotels! If we come back, we definitely will stay at the orchid!!! Its also in a very nice aera where you have alot of shopping, bars and restaurants, definitely our favorite area im Beijing!

Quaint property, metro and rental bikes nearby, many amenities, built in restaurants, bakery, and bar, friendly resident cats, comfortable mattress, many recommendations in the map they give you, helpful and friendly staff, included breakfast options are great.

Some drain flies while showering. Rather expensive, not the best value.

The airco and air purifying were really dusty but the property cleaned the day after . For the money we paid we expected to be super clean

I absolutely love this place. Room was very cute and the right size for two people, the amenities are really great. Breakfast is fantastic and you can choose between western and Cantonese. Special shoutout to staff who is very friendly and helpful.

No exaggeration in saying this was one of my best hotel stays ever. The staff and the extra mile to keep me happy, including offering a bag of pastries and a bottle of water due to my early check out. The room was super comfortable and fancy, with some free fruit on arrival. The location was awesome right in the hutong. I loved the bakery, bar, restaurant and breakfast. Too good!!

The hotel is stunning itself! Adorable big rooms with everything needed. Very friendly and attentive staff who speak excellent English (which is not common in China in general). The breakfast restaurants are completely different, but both are very tasty! And special thanks for the small gift upon check-out. The location itself is also cool - the old streets of one-story Beijing. It was interesting to live away from the "tourist" city and see the life of the locals. Would I stay here again - yes! Would I recommend this hotel to friends - absolutely!

The main reception area is currently under renovation, so getting to the room involved a lot of stairs, which may not be very comfortable for older guests or guests with small kids. Also, the soundproofing in the rooms could be better - I could clearly hear when the neighbors upstairs flushed the toilet or took a shower.

The location was fantastic, really great for exploring the Drum Tower area and near the subway. It was very easy to access from the airport and the food options in the area were some of the best we found. The room was perfect, really comfortable and clean. The food options at the hotel were great, we really enjoyed the Furonji restaurant for both breakfast and dinner! The staff here could not have been more helpful. They helped with booking things and also with using some of the local apps to use rental bikes which made our stay a lot easier.

Absolutely loved this Hutong hotel if you want an authentic experience, the staff spoke fantastic English which was a huge help! They could organise trips and drivers, felt very safe walking to the hotel at night and they have resident cats and the most amazing bakery with a cute restaurant serving breakfast lunch and dinner.

I loved everything! Though The bar drinks were a bit pricey for China!
