Hotel Chic & Basic Born, Barcelona

The location was great and the staff were nice, helpful and spoke English very well.

The toilet was difficult to get a good full flush most of the time.

The location was excellent and overall the hotel was really modern and clean. The items offered via the hotel cafe at no extra charge (unlimited tea and coffee, fresh dispenser water, mini muffins etc) were excellent and very much appreciated. The little bottle of wine, crisps, tote bag etc with the room was also excellent. Loved the street view and the balcony in the room!

Some shelving of some sort in the shower would be really good to help store items you’re using.

We liked the interior design of the hotel, the ambience and the vibe. Our room had a balcony which we loved.

The receptionist was arrogant and not what you call “customer friendly”. We were quite surprised about his behavior.

Bathroom was right next to the bed with a glass door you had to pump the button above the toilet many times for it to flush properly very strange design and noisy

The reception team is very responsive and helpful! The location is perfect with a lot of shops, bars, close to the historic center and walking distance to the beach. Good breakfasts.

A renovation is needed in the room, as it is visible that the bathroom and toilet is old. But the design of the room is great and itself is spacious.

We stayed at the Born location. The hotel had charm and character. The staff was friendly and helpful. Love the coffee/tea bar. We didn't have breakfast, so I can't comment on that. Overall, I would stay here again, but would request a room without a permanent blue light.

My room had a weird blue light strip across the ceiling that didn't have a switch, so in order to turn it off, I had to take the key card out, which stopped the air conditioning. Also, it would be nice to have a few more products in the bathroom, like a shower cap, and maybe some lotion.

The room felt a bit claustrophobic. The toilet cubicle had no privacy and was v small. Also there was an animal we think on the roof so it was very noisy which meant we didn’t sleep well.

Room was configured weirdly with glass shower in the middle of the room and stairs to wind around to bathroom. Shower leaked so dangerous to walk to the bathroom in the night. Sad excuse for a gym.

This is not a standard accommodation with boring rooms. The location of the hotel is great. I was pleasantly surprised by the staff and the service, which was up to the standard of a much more expensive hotel.

The rooms could use a little renovation.

The location was fantastic. It was right in the area we wanted to be in. Staff were very friendly and easy to deal with; spoke and understood English. The rooms and vibe of the hotel was unusual and different from other accommodations stayed at. Common area was fantastic and provided all the comforts we needed - hot coffee, great tea and a place to just hang out.

Room didn't really have a window. The window we had faced the inside courtyard. We would have preferred some fresh air. Breakfast was not great - not fresh.

One of the best parts would have to be the space of the room, it was perfect for 1 person and I was able to move and settle myself. The amenities were great and the common areas were well equipped. Overall the atmosphere was the best part as it was such a relaxing environment.

I would say the cleaners refreshing my room despite placing the sign saying it wasn’t necessary was a tad annoying. My room didn’t require it and they still came in. When they did tidy the room there was not much changed other than the bed being fixed. The floor would still be dusty in some pets with old glasses left behind also after a ‘refresh’.

Very chic and hip hotel. The staff was VERY accommodating. We loved being near the park.

The room was very hot. The AC hadn't been turned on for the season and when we got back in the evening after walking all day, it was pretty uncomfortable in the room. We had to leave our front door open for a few hours to get the room down to a decent temperature.

The location is second to none. Close to all the good attractions.. Complimentary coffee and tea is great

It was was a spatious room with a special design. the hotel is very nice located and the staff is friendly. The breakfast has a small slection, but quality is good.

The cleaning could be better, the bed was tidy, but the rest of the room was not cleaned during the stay. The breakfast area was quite small, with just a few places to sit down, so you have to be on time to eat behind a table. If you don't mind eating on couch, its perfect.

Quirky and fun decoration . Each room has different led lights that shine down through a fly screen style curtain ….makes it easier to find your room and stops other guests blundering into your door ! Wonderful touch of a communal area with access to water ,tea and coffee with jars of sweets and biscuits . Ideally situated in the city within easy reach of so many sights with the Picasso museum just around the corner and plenty of places to eat out.

Close to transport links only 10 minutes from the center, lots of restaurants nearby .

Room very warm without the balcony door open and then quite noisy in the mornings.

Great bar downstairs to relax. Great location for the tours I was doing that left from the nearby station.

The shower in the bedroom was a bit weird but nothing too crazy. I'm glad I was by myself and not with other people where we'd have to shower in front of each other.

Lighthearted, great second floor social area and creative hall way and room layout. Big windows to open.

There were bikes in the entrance, for guests to use, but they were expensive compared to other rentals in the area. I would think that bikes kept at the hotel would either be complementary or a discount rate.

The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room was super spacious, very comfortable with unique design inside an old , stately building. The location could not have been more convenient to Gothic quarter and transportation.

Nice room with balcony. Creative design of the room and the lobby. Different entrance for hotel and reception making it slightly confusing. Lighting was a lil bit dark as they had a theme for the hallways, but kinda difficult when you are pulling your bags. The lighting in the room was quirky (😂) They had a shared pantry complete with coffee tea and snacks and the lounge area was beautiful. In the room, they give you a bottle of water but you need to go to the pantry to make the coffee and all. Room was GREAT for couples, a bit confused about the setup if it was for family /colleagues. They cleaned the room everyday and their cleaning employees greeted us everytime we met. They do have a bar cum restaurant at the lobby, didn't try it though. In terms of location not really central,but it was manageable to walk to LA sagrada, arc de triompf, born area casa battlo. . There were shops n supermarkets and a souvenir store nearby called Gaudi BCN selling cheap souvenirs. Farqu was helpful during check in and explained well to us.

1) Shower gel bottles were not refilled. 2) Balcony door lock issues 3)heater issues during 2nd nite stay. Told the girl during checkout about it.

Great hotel with relaxed atmosphere... Liked to use the central sitting areas with coffee and muffins early in the morning. Ideal location with easy walking to port, beach gentral gotic area and park.

The steps from the shower to the towel rail need a non- slip finish (my wife slipped over when exiting the shower)

The location was ok, a lot of options for transportation nearby. The staff was kind.

It is obvious that it is old and has not been renovated. There were a few broken tiles. Dirt had accumulated on the corners.

Design boutique hotel with interesting decorative features, in a spacious, heigh ceilinged setting. This is not just an accommodation, but an experience. There are several, thoughtfully arranged, design common spaces when a relatively affluent traveller can chill out, enjoy complementary beverages and converse.

When you chose an hotel like Born Boutique hotel you need to have the appropriate mindset. When you have that, it is a fantastic place to stay.
