Thompson, Seattle

110 Stewart St, Seattle, WA 98101, United States. (show on map)

Thompson Seattle stands as a sleek, 12-story glass structure that masterfully bridges the gap between urban sophistication and the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Designed by the renowned Seattle-based firm Olson Kundig, the hotel opened in 2016 on a site famously known as the city’s most well-known parking lot. Its design features stacked glass volumes and industrial steel elements that reflect the city’s modern character.

The interior aesthetic balances mid-century modern style with a rustic, farmhouse-inspired sensibility. You will find curated bookshelves featuring outdoor lifestyle subjects, earthy pottery, and custom hardwood floors. Because of the building’s unique geometry, no two floor plans are exactly the same, resulting in 30 different room configurations that maximize light and space.

A major highlight is the rooftop bar, The Nest. It offers an expansive, unobstructed panoramic view of Elliott Bay, the Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains, making it a prime spot for sunset watching. The hotel also leans into local history, naming several of its meeting rooms after legendary aircraft that honor Seattle’s deep aviation heritage.

Location-wise, the hotel is perfectly positioned for explorers. You are just steps away from the iconic Pike Place Market, where you can watch the famous fish-tossing tradition. Other nearby landmarks include the Seattle Art Museum, with its towering “Hammering Man” sculpture, and the scenic waterfront promenade that connects to the Seattle Aquarium.

Expert reviews

Forbes review:

“Thompson Seattle tows the line between old and new with its masterful design and well-placed locale. The hotel manages to be quaint yet sleek with a style that balances modern city life and rustic Pacific Northwest surroundings with vintage midcentury modern aesthetics blended with a log cabin or farmhouse vibe and perfectly worn furnishings.”

Fodors review:

“Designed by local star architects Olson Kundig, the 12-story Thompson Seattle (a Hyatt hotel) makes an impression with a contemporary glass exterior and sophisticated guest rooms that feature floor-to-ceiling windows (some framing epic water views), hardwood floors, a crisp white-and-navy palette, and leather and smoked-glass accents.”

Telegraph review:

“Beautiful on the inside and out, Thompson Seattle ticks the three boxes Thompson Hotels are known for: design, culinary, and location. A major highlight of the Olson Kundig–designed building is floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the postcard-quality views.”

At the moment nit too happy and want everyone to know how I was treated.

Comfortable bed

Front desk staff, morning staff said he was going to charge me for no show, I told him what am I, for some reason Expedia and book.com made two reservations night shift employee named Kiana said she would take care of that. And that she would charge me for only one room. But in the morning I was charged for a no show again, not too happy to go to vacation and had to discuss double charges with miorning staff horrible . I would appreciate if you can take care of this please.

Great location hotel not worth the money.

Loved the location of the hotel. Great walking distance to a lot of the cities attractions.

I thought it was VERY expensive for the rooms. I thought the rooms would have been much nicer. They were outdated, the TV was terrible and the sound awful. The lighting in the rooms was bad. The bed corners had bumpers on them since they are sharp edges and the corners kept falling off, they were gross and were put on poorly.

Disappointing for the money.

Good location. Right by Pikes Place Market

Small room. Poor lighting. Lots of street noise - for some reason people like to rev their engines late at night so not much sleep.

Amazing stay in the heart of downtown.

Excellent location, beautifully curated with modern decor. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. View from the upper level and rooftop was unbeatable.

Glad we did it but won't be back.

The room was clean. They brought decaf coffee after I called because there wasn't any. Convenience of location. Staff was kind. Big window.

We were under the impression we'd have a view of the city but all we had was views of people's apartments. In room dining service options were incredibly limited. Cost was steep for such simple amenities.

Not up to Hyatt standard. Rip off prices. Poor hospitality and admin team, dingy old room and bad smelling toiletries

If you’re a tourist in Seattle, the location to transit and tourist attracts could not have been better.

I used to live in downtown Seattle for 7 years and moved away but I go back to visit and stayed here.

Rip off and flakey customer service/admin team. The room sucked too.

My city view looked into an ugly office building and dirty street. There was no view. Housekeeping slams doors from 9AM to 11AM to check every room. You won’t be able to sleep in due to the incessant door slamming. The walls are thin and I got woken up by the water pipes. It sounded like white noise static machine being turned on in the middle of the night. House keeping also did a shit job cleaning my room. They left rags and scattered towels just randomly in my bathroom. They didn’t bother giving me new mugs and didn’t give me new toiletries.

Please do not book on booking.com for this hotel. It was a nightmare to deal with when something went wrong.

I accidentally booked the wrong dates and contacted the hotel on booking to cancel or change the date. No one responded. I got the phone number to their “online reservation” team which is like 1 person and it took 5 calls and like 3 emails to rebook the dates. Then they double charged me upon check in as if I hadn’t paid which took another 45 min to correct.

Just next to the hotel looked like some kind of low income housing. There are hoodlums and bent over druggies just loitering there at night. It does not feel safe to walk by even next to the hotel.

The Nest Rooftop bar is immensely overpriced for what it is, 3 drinks for $80!! The cocktails taste good but are batch made and full of ice. Guests do not get priority access or discounts at this bar. Lots of none hotel guests go to this bar, too, and it’s crowded. If you want good cocktails bars, Rob Roy and Deep Dive are in the area. You are paying for the roof top but it’s only good during summer months. They didn’t even have heating lamps for outside for fall. Inside was nice but overflow outside seating looked like basic metal picnic tables with no decor.

The room itself is small and feels dingy. The bedding was the worst I’ve ever had at an Hyatt brand hotel.

It was really a gorgeous hotel. Unfortunately, outside of the hotel I felt unsafe and it tainted my experience and my ex

It was in the perfect location to see the main attractions. The rooftop restaurant was so beautiful and one of the highlights of this trip. The other restaurant was lovely and delicious as well. However, the tipping was deceiving. The tip was already included in the bill and not knowing this, I tipped additionally. It was very off putting.

The homeless and seeing people use drugs on the street in broad daylight. I didn’t realize it was like this downtown, I felt unsafe and anxious. It was very disappointing.

The rooms were beautiful but the pillows were really awful.

Its location is close proximity to Central Park with beautiful views of it from the high floors studio room. Area is good and safe as well and very close to lots of good broadway shows

The breakfast can be better but they still had a fairly good hot and cold buffet spread but no live counters

Clean and cosy hotel right near to Pike Place

The location was absolutely fantastic, offering breathtaking views of the enchanting sunset and the vibrant neon signs of Pike Place Market from my 12th-floor room. The attentive staff went above and beyond by promptly providing amenities such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, and comb, saving me from the inconvenience of forgetting them. The housekeeping service was exceptional, ensuring that every corner of the room was immaculate. The thoughtful gesture of offering water, tea, and coffee in the lobby, along with the complimentary two bottles of water upon check-in, allowed me to stay hydrated and refreshed throughout my stay. The cherry on top was the delightful surprise of receiving a complimentary champagne during check-in, making me feel truly valued and indulged with the outstanding service provided.

The mini bar is excessively stocked with items, giving off a overly commercial vibe and a cluttered feel with things piled up on top of the fridge, as if saying 'just try hanging one thing'. With nearby markets, Target, and Hmart available, it raises doubts whether guests would actually opt for the mini bar. It was a bit disappointing to see a nice electric kettle tucked away in the wardrobe, considering the abundance of items in the mini bar. Despite boasting a prime location, top-notch facilities, and cozy bedding, the strategy of maximizing profits from the mini bar seemed to have its downsides.

Don't waste your money

View, location

Room was 78 degrees with A/C broken and no windows to open. We called for assistance and they sent engineering up with a portable swamp cooler to plug in, which was very loud and took about 7 hours to bring the temperature down. The sink would not drain, pillows were tiny and very lumpy, shampoo and body wash bottles in shower would not pump, TV casting/screen mirroring not functional, half of movie channels had no signal and did not work. Honestly, the room I had earlier in the week for work at The Hampton Inn had greater comfort and functionality. For the price you pay to stay here ($600 with taxes and fees) this was not a good value at all. Upon checkout, staff did not bother to ask if we had a good stay. You can go to the rooftop bar as a guest, so that's not a good reason to book this property. I
would not stay here again.

Very nice hotel with great staff. Fabulous location.

The room was nice and clean. The restaurant was fabulous. We ate breakfast there both days. Check-in and checkout was fast and easy. Loved the champagne and cookie at Check-in. Nice touch.

I know all of the Seattle hotels do it, but jacking up the prices so much during Blue Jays weekend isn’t great. A very minor thing was having to ask for more robes and towels. There weren’t enough for a 4 person room.
