The Shelborne, Miami

Easy beach access-beach staff was pleasant and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Pool area very pleasant. Sound bath was a cool unique experience.

I had a confirmed reservation at Pauline and upon arrival it was closed. Front desk told me they would return a call regarding a request I had and I didn’t receive a callback. The lack of restaurant options at the hotel is disappointing. Cafe closes too early. Food on the menu is the same everyday. This caused me to order from PuraVida but you can’t eat it in the pool area. Dinner service at the indoor restaurant was awful. The server was apathetic and no attention to detail. The vibe was sad only one another couple on a Sunday from 6:45-8:00.

I am completely disappointed with this hotel. The price and quality do not match at all. I originally booked two nights for around $1100, but by the end of my stay I was charged almost $2600 for just two nights. When I asked the staff why the prices on Booking.com were much lower than what I was being charged at the hotel, I was told: “Because those prices are on Booking, and this is not Booking.” I found this answer very unprofessional and unfair. I was first given a room with a terrible view, even though I expected a much better experience for this price. Then I was offered the exact same small studio room, only with an ocean view, and I ended up being charged an additional $1421 for just two nights only for the view. This was not even an upgrade to a better or larger room — just a different view. I would really like clarification regarding these extra charges, because paying almost $2600 total for two nights is completely unreasonable and absolutely not worth it. I strongly recommend that anyone staying here carefully double-check all charges, extra fees, and final bills before paying. In my case, I feel like I was overcharged and billed additional amounts that made no sense. For nearly $2600 for two nights, this hotel was absolutely not worth the money.

Picked balcony oceanfront room. Could basically stand out there with 2 people, it was on side. Stretch to call a balcony. Would not spend any more thean few minutes out there to see the view. The picture on booking.com is the penthouse balcony. Bathroom small with little counter space

Could not get anyone to answer phone at the front desk. I called one time 7x and no answer. Rooms tiny, finishes done cheaply. The cost of the hotel is a scam for the service and quality you get. Paying almost $1000 a night and can’t get some one to respond. Had an engineer enter our room but left the door open bc the door didn’t shut all the way. Hotel staff refused to do anything about issues. They also made a big deal about booking Thru a 3rd party - referenced a few times by staff

Check in was stressful. They did not provide the room as pictured on the website. The room had no closet space, the balcony was 4 feet by 4 feet. They charged me extra money to get a room that still was not the same as the one that was booked. They blamed the third party (you).I would not go back.

Following the good reviews I was really looking forward to staying here. The hotel itself is very aesthetic. However, the staff were unfriendly, extremely slow and even gave us the wrong bags to leave with on checking out seriously questioning the security of this hotel. The bar was not stocked with simple drinks for the quality of this hotel. It is also right next to an extremely loud building site so say goodbye to any relaxing sunbathing. They did not top up the cotton pads over the course of our stay suggesting lack of attention to detail. This is over priced massively for the experience we had. So disappointed

Only one elevator worked. Electricity went out for several hours and staff did nothing to help guests. The rooms are tired. Definitely not what I expect from the Proper brand.

The overall aesthetic of the hotel, especially the pool, are beautiful. Service is excellent.

Overall just not worth the cost per night in comparison to other hotels in this class in Miami. While decor/aesthetic is appealing, the room & bathroom are both quite small, and various aspects miss the mark on functionality. We just found ourselves constantly frustrated in the room.

Staff often confused, impossible to get pool chairs unless you are there at 8am, the 15 min policy for pool chairs is ridiculous, food options are limited, no real vibe, rooms small for the price.

While I'd stay at the Shelborne again given its impeccable interior design, I encountered 3 issues during my stay, which I mention in the spirit of helping the hotel iron out a few wrinkles. The first was that the door handle to enter/exit my room didn't work properly, which meant that the room could have been entered by anyone without a key. While a very capable engineer fixed the door once I discovered the problem about 7 hours into my stay, this really should have been caught by the hotel beforehand given the potential security risk. The second issue is that the fitness center is not quite to the standard of the rest of the hotel: it is extremely small, windowless, and has relatively few weight machines. The third issue was that the hotel had difficulty finding my stored piece of luggage when I fetched it an hour or so after checkout (it took nearly 10 minutes, apparently because my bag and a few others were placed next to the reception area and not in the standard storage area). While I appreciate the challenges involved in storing and retrieving luggage when the hotel is busy, I sensed that the overall baggage storage and retrieval process was not as seamless or efficient as it could have been. Those hiccups aside, the hotel was beautiful and the staff members I encountered were very polite.

As far as I know the owners spent $100M for the renovation and the hotel design, facility, fitness equipment, staff everything was absolutely gorgeous.

From start to finish, everything was perfect — but the thing that really made our trip unforgettable was the incredible staff. A special shout-out to Adrian, who helped us with our bags when we arrived. He was absolutely fantastic — friendly, welcoming, and even brought us some cold water, which was such a thoughtful touch in the Miami heat. A genuinely lovely guy with a brilliant smile, and he set the tone for the whole stay. The team at check-in were excellent, the cleaners kept everything spotless, and both the pool and beach attendants were so kind and attentive. Whether we were relaxing by the pool or stretched out on the beach enjoying fresh fruit, everything felt like real, effortless holiday luxury. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful — stylish, clean, welcoming, and perfectly located right on Miami Beach. But it’s the staff that truly make it special. Every person we met was warm, genuine, and clearly proud of their work. We loved every minute of our stay and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended! 🌴☀️🏖️

I had a wonderful time. Everything about the hotel is incredible. My only feedback was that my shower was very clogged so it immediately filled up with dirty water within two minutes of starting a shower. I did notify the staff at check out.

it's very high design and well located. we loved their attention to furniture indoors and outdoors. many are shades of green-blue that appear to match the shades of the ocean at miami beach. the architecture and furniture are all kind of amazing. also its location is the sweet spot that's walkable to art deco, a lot of food and retail, and is also a beach adjacent property with its own chairs on the beach. aesop everywhere was a nice touch. it's also small enough that you see the same people at the pool, which feels pleasantly intimate. the staff was also great. our brunch waiter recommended 3 restaurants we enjoyed. we ran into our pool staff at a club. of course notable too: we went 5 months after the renovation, so everything is in perfect condition.

the wifi was very confusing. we could not get normal apps like weather or uber to work. they started working once i used a VPN app. you should haven't to use a VPN app at a US hotel. we also couldn't figure out how to pair the ars technica bluetooth speaker in the room, even while following youtube video directions. we couldn't find any directions in the room. i have emailed the hotel about both of these issues and they wrote back agreeing they needed attention.

I loved the grounds. Everything was kept meticulously clean. the staff were exceptional. They went out of their way to assist us and even gave us a private tour of the upcoming restaurant and bar.

My only suggestion would be to make the hotel adults only or at least 12+. The property, specially the pools area, is very serene and relaxing. But everyone exited the pool when a couple of badly behaved 6ish year olds came in. There is no life guard and the parent just basically let them run wild. Ruined the whole vibe.

Rooms and bathrooms are too small. The service was not good. There was no room service.

The room was excellent and perfectly sized. Housekeeping was very respectful and professional. I was able to use my iPad with the TV, which made it incredibly convenient. It was secluded and friendly and right off the beach. Beautiful.

I wish it had a dining hall buffet service. It would make the perfect getaway. I would never leave to eat out

There is no room service after 11am. You can’t order breakfast in advance the night before, only in the morning. Food options are very limited and too “healthy”. You can’t get a regular harsh brown without quinoa and other stuff. No regular bacon. No regular berries, just seasonal whatever that means. Oh and the hotel had the slowest internet on the planet. It was extremely annoying. I had to use my mobile data which is not great because hotels internet was extremely bad. Cafe in hotel is only open until 11am and serves mostly matcha and oat milk lattes. Thank god there are a ton of cafes around to get my regular whole milk cappuccino.

The most beautiful Hotel I ever stayed at! Everyone just lovely and helpful. Aidan knows everything and Felipe such a helpful young man. They want to make your stay the best you ever had. Service at the pool incredible. The whole staff just nice and attentive. Had an incredible week with my 2 sons ( 20 and 16yrs) We ll definitely come back!

New hotel with amazing workers!! Everybody was really nice and welcoming! The pool staff and especially Gabriella and Rafa from the front desk! We had a great vacation there!!!!

From the moment we stepped into the beautiful hotel till the last day we were greeted by the kindest people and taken care of. Everything in the hotel is outstanding and so thoughtfully designed. The pool is SO pretty and the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The beach chairs were wonderful, every single day we would go out to the beach for the first half of the day and end by the pool. It was great. And the rooms were so sleek and comfortable, we'll definitely be visiting again.

There was only one small hiccup while we stayed around the pool getting some work done -- it was communicated to us the day before it happened which was helpful but a bummer nontheless. When we stayed the hotel had only been open for a few weeks so we understand they're still getting everything ironed out. We shared our feedback with the staff and they went above and beyond to take care of us. While the pool being out of commission for an evening wasn't ideal, the way the team handled it was out of this world and makes me only want to go back to the Shelborne for all my future Miami visits.

I LOVED everything! I've always been drawn to mid-beach, and the hotel was absolutely perfect - cozy and scenic room, tasty and healthy food, chill bar and pool vibes, and the staff was absolutely LOVELY.

There were some minor issues with one of the elevators not working, but it didn't ruin my overall experience.

Charged twice for my stay and charged two deposits / holds of $400 each. The desk staff seemed to find this hilarious; this is a new hotel, not an established one so as a tourist the fact it could be a scam was all I could think. Luckily I have bank alerts each time a payment is made so I was aware. I was so afraid of any more money being taken from me by the hotel that I paid for my dinner in the hotel directly instead of having it charged to my room. The double stay charge was returned. But to date, despite multiple attempts to contact the hotel, they have still not returned my deposit / hold. I’ve contacted my bank who say they are waiting for the hotel to agree to release the money. So much stress that completely ruined a spontaneous weekend trip to Miami!
