Hotel Clermont, Atlanta
Built in 1924 along Ponce de Leon Avenue, this local icon started as an apartment building before transforming into a hotel that hosted everyone from traveling salesmen to jazz legends. After falling into serious decay, it was saved and reimagined by New York-based design firm Reignwood (with interior design by Burdifilek), reopening as a boutique hotspot that perfectly balances vintage grit with modern glam.
The absolute crown jewel of the building’s history hides in the basement: the Clermont Lounge. It is Atlanta’s oldest strip club, famous for its completely unpretentious vibe, celebrity guests (like Anthony Bourdain and Bill Murray), and its legendary dancer, Blondie, who is famous for crushing beer cans with her breasts.
Upstairs, the vibe flips to pure retro chic. The designers kept the original 1920s structure but packed it with velvet, neon, and funky wallpapers. The best spot to take it all in is the rooftop bar, where you can sip a cocktail right next to the hotel’s massive, historic radio tower sign while catching panoramic views of the city skyline.
Expert reviews
“The six-story, century-old brick building is topped with a sixty-five-foot radio tower bearing the Clermont name—an original relic that came down years ago but was proudly resurrected at the hotel’s splashy grand opening in 2018. Inside the groovy, ’70s-inspired lobby with low-slung velvet couches and leafy house plants.”
“Hotel Clermont, for years a heap of broken dreams and dodgy characters straight out of the Tom Waits songbook, has in recent years been cheekily reimagined, boutique-style, with vintage-inspired décor, a rooftop bar and a terrific French restaurant. The old Clermont Lounge strip club beneath the hotel remains, virtually untouched.”
“With preserved stairwells and unusable original doors, Atlanta’s hottest boutique hotel has kept a wink and a nod to this historic 1924 Poncey-Highland building, originally the Bonaventure Arms Apartments.”
“There’s no better stay within walking distance of Ponce City Market and the BeltLine, and for cool factor combined with the conveniences of a modern hotel with vintage touches, there may be no better stay in Atlanta. Lush foliage and wicker and rattan seating welcome you in the lobby, as does an ice-cold PBR in honor of legendary stripper Blondie.”

happily would stay again when visiting Atlanta
spacious rooms, friendly staff, and nice touch for welcome drink on check-in
the bathroom was showing signs of wear and the lighting inside the room was low/dark

A very memorabl girls night!
All the staff were really nice. They offered welcome drink. They reached out ahead of time to ask about special needs. This has never happened for me when not booking direct.
The rooftop bar was so much fun. It was an overall amazing time. Just really good vibes!
There were a few sketchy folks hanging around the outside, but I felt safe.

Great location for the tourist stuff, but not so great for sleeping.
It was well situated, close to everything we were interested in visiting. The staff were very kind and attentive. The restaurant on site, Tiny Lou’s, was excellent.
The bunk beds were cool but the mattresses were not very comfortable. The club they have on site got loud at night and made it difficult to sleep since our room was on the same level as the club.

Funky, unique, and charming
Loved that the rooms were not industrial. The room felt unique a little funky and very comfortable. The shower was great. I did not get to the strip club unfortunately. Did appreciate being able to park off property. The desk staff was fabulous warm and informative. The workout space was a little thin on equipment. Finally, I loved having a tea kettle in the room and the ceramic cups no plastic yippee
The rug in the bedroom was kind of sticky, which was yucky when I got down to do exercises. Also, a few small things were just falling apart in the room, but no big deal.

I look forward to a longer stay in the future to experience the other offerings of the hotel
I like how cozy it felt. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated the complimentary champagne, and my experience with the valet was great.
I really don’t have anything to negative to say

Cool Hotel and Good Location for Exploring Atlanta Mid-Town
Fun hotel. Web site pictures and vibe matched our experience. Rooftop bar was nice for drinks, views and pictures. Morning free coffee was also good and convenient. Close to Piedmont Park (via scooter) and Ponce Market (walk a couple of blocks).
Our room was on the side of the hotel overlooking the Clarmont Lounge, a "famous" dive bar. So it was noisy in the evenings. We are not light sleepers, so it didn't bother us. But for others who do need quiet, this could be a problem. They did provide ear plugs for this reason.

It's an institution in Atlanta, worth staying!
Great boutique hotel with a lot of events happening. Very nicely designed rooms and common spaces, it gives a great aura and vibes. Highly recommended.
Might be a bit too busy and too noisy (common areas) as there are always events happening.

My home away from home.
I love the ambiance of the hotel and the location is perfect. Staff are very friendly. I grew up in Atlanta and have many places to stay when I visit but always squeeze in a couple nights at Clermont.

The hotel was great overall. Managed to get street parking. Excellent location to Ponce City Market and to restaurants a
The location is excellent. Walking distance to so much.
Couldn’t figure out air conditioner and it was a bit stuffy in our room. Also, I couldn’t figure out how to get to our room via the stairs, a bit of a maze. We were on the B level (below the ground level). Could’ve asked but was there for less than 24 hours, so no big deal.

Great place to stay during business trip
Requests were honored- high floor and room furthest away from the elevator.
Quiet, clean, plenty of room for myself and my daughter
Convenient location to restaurants and shopping

My heart is full! The Clermont is the best of Atlanta as a classy boutique hotel for a GREAT price above ...Atlanta's late xxx night treasure.... :-)
I loved everything.

My go-to in Atlanta!
This is one of my favorite hotels in Atlanta, and if the price point is favorable, I always try to stay here. The property is whimsical and hip; the location is amazing (though no one walks in Atlanta, you can get lots of places on foot via the Clermont!); and the staff is always so kind and helpful. They seem to genuinely like their jobs.
I had hoped to do a day of work from the Clermont’s lobby bar and study, the space was closed for renovation. Not a big deal, but I wasn’t aware that it wasn’t available when I booked.

A gem in a great safe Atlanta area within walking to lots of cool places
We loved our bunk room for three people. It was super cute and different from any other hotel room we have stayed at and we are frequent travelers.

Beautiful rooms, comfortable space, amazing staff!!! I cannot stress enough how nice they were to us
The staff were amazing, so sweet, kind, and made us feel like we mattered to them! The ladies at the front desk were so informative and answered all my questions about local places to eat. The men running the vale parking and watching the door were also super kind and helpful. Top of the line service that made us feel welcomed and taken care of!
The only thing I can think of is that the cafe was a little lacking in food options. We had been hoping for more heavy breakfast food options and had to resort to other locations to eat.

Thoughtfully designed and comfortable stay in a super cute neighborhood.
Very comfortable accommodations, so thoughtfully designed. All of the amenities were excellent, staff was helpful and friendly, neighborhood had tons to do and eat within walking distance.
The room was very loud, as the lounge crowd bled out into the parking lot and and sound bounced around the buildings. The courtesy of earplugs was greatly appreciated though.

I think the king room was fine, but I do like the bunk rooms better.
King room was pretty basic, though clean.

A very welcoming, historic hotel
We booked the hotel due to its close location to The Eastern music venue. We found staff to be very upbeat, engaging and informative. We had dinner at the restaurant, Tiny Lous. The food was excellent and again the staff at the restaurant were very positive and professional.

Fantastic experience with me and my dog.
The fact that I am allowed to bring my dog to the hotel. They even had little treats at the hotel name on them, which was so cute and my dog loved them. They were so friendly about it and helped me out, especially when bringing up my dog, my suitcase and my dogs kennel to the room. I have stayed at other hotels and most of the time the fee is a little ridiculous. But this fee was actually less than I thought it would be.
