Villa Barranco, Lima
Villa Barranco is a beautifully restored boutique hotel set within two stately 1920s mansions in the heart of Lima’s bohemian Barranco district. Originally designed by the Polish architect Ricardo de Jaxa Malachowski, the property was once a private residence and later declared a National Monument in 1987 due to its significant architectural heritage.
The hotel feels more like a private home than a traditional stay. Local artisans meticulously revived original details like mosaic friezes, stucco work, and French terracotta roof tiles, while designers carefully curated a mix of contemporary furniture and antiques to give each of the 20 rooms a unique personality. Some suites even feature private terraces or lofts with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
Life here is slow and refined. The rooftop terrace is the perfect spot for an afternoon drink, offering gentle sea breezes and a peaceful escape from the bustling city below. As a thoughtful touch, the hotel offers free-to-borrow e-bikes, making it easy for guests to explore the colorful surroundings at their own pace.
Its location is ideal for soaking in the local culture. You are just steps away from the famous Bridge of Sighs and the atmospheric Bajada de los Baños, a historic walkway that leads down to the sea.
For art lovers, the neighborhood is a dream. You are surrounded by vibrant street murals, independent galleries, and renowned cultural sites like the Museo Pedro de Osma and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), which are all within comfortable walking distance.
Expert reviews
“The kind of effortlessly beautiful but comfortable old house that instantly feels like home. This Barranco boutique hotel is brimming with style, from the clever decor to the garden with hummingbirds dive-bombing the honeysuckle.”
“Set in a two-level 1920s mansion on Barranco’s leafy side streets, a short walk from the best galleries and restaurants, Villa Barranco is among a new crop of elegant boutique hotels that is helping change Lima’s hotel scene.”
“Staying in this meticulously restored 1920s mansion on a quiet street near Barranco’s malecón is a bit like staying with friends, thanks to the laid-back atmosphere and helpful staff. The stately, two-story house is hemmed by gardens, with terraces, decks, and a tower from which to admire the surroundings.”

A sweet-sour experience
The villa is located in an excellent location walkable to many fantastic restaurants. The room was nicely furnished. The balcony overlooking the quiet street good. The staff was very hospitable and tried their best to answer our queries and sort out our complaint.
We requested early check in and the stand alone bath in our suite when booking, but never heard a response. On arrival, the early check in was not available - that was understandable and we accepted that, heading off to an excellent breakfast place recommended by the receptionist. When we were shown our room, the bathroom requested was not available but in its stead it was small and had only a shower unit. The staff did offer us another suite with a bath (not the one requested) but that room was not yet ready, so we stayed put. By chance, we discovered the picture of our suite being of a lower, cheaper category on the bookings.com website! When shown to the hotel, they insisted it was a junior suite rather than a junior room (and the picture has still not been changed on the website). A couple of drinks were offered as compensation, which feels grossly inadequate….

Amazing location, amazing staff, amazing stay
The unique historical house converted to hotel in the best location of the most amazing and trendy quarter of Lima.
The room was very simple without too many frills (that’s also what was charming about it)

A truly outstanding accomodation in Lima
The very tasteful restoration of a beautiful 1940s house, the great location in an artsy neighbourhood close to the sea, full of art galleries, trendy bars and cafes and great gastronomic scene. The staff was very friendly and professional and the rooms, large, bright, and comfortable

Relatively price, but worth it
Large comfortable room and bathroom. Good breakfast, very helpful and responsive staff. Lovely location
It was considerably more expensive than the property we were originally going to book. Wish the bathroom had a tub.

Fabulous property
Fabulous property, accommodating staff, clean, wonderful. In a slightly quieter part of Barranco, an easy walk to the street art and great restaurants. Bathrobes and private terrace were a nice touch. The morning I flew out I left at 4am, the hotel organized the taxi and packed me a breakfast to-go including a coffee. I stayed on one night and ordered food to be delivered to the hotel, and when I stepped out in my bathrobe to meet the delivery guy, the man at the front desk jumped up to retrieve my items for me. Great attention to detail all around.
Everything was great

Fabulous
Highly recommend to stay in Barranco (vs. Miraflores) and this hotel if you're visiting Lima as the neighborhood is so lively and beautiful. The hotel is built in a colonial style house and only has 9 rooms (if i recall correctly). The concierge is there 24/7 and all the staff members were really attentive during my stay. The breakfast is set up in the beautiful living room and makes the experience extra special.
