Clico Boutique Hotel, Johannesburg

Very clean and comfortable, good location, very polite and careful staff

We were at room 6 which shares a terrace with room 5. It will be nice if they can somehow divide the terrace even with a temporary stand on as the woman from room 5 approached our room while i was getting out of the bath…not a nice thing to experience

The staff were really amazing, very friendly and helpful.

I banged my head against the TV cabinet so this is the only thing I would change. Apart from that it was lovely all round.

Beautiful small hotel with lovely and attentive staff. Great pool to lounge by in a garden that makes you forget you’re in the middle of Rosebank. Spacious rooms and great facilities.

Friendly, efficient staff with a cute environment

We only stayed for one night as we had a safari booked but the hotel and room was great. The staff were really helpful and organised an early breakfast for our departure (which was really good). The information on taking a tour of Johannesburg was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our whistle stop stay in Johannesburg.

Dinner ended a little too early for us in the restaurant - we would have loved to dine in the restaurant....

Small, safe and comfortable in good location.

The stay was really great especially their restaurant facilities. Breakfast was incredible and we cant wait to be back to try out their restaurant for lunch and dinner. The rooms were comfortable and really incredible value for money. The staff were amazing and exceptionally friendly. Loved our Stay

It is an informal, clean and homy place with the most friendly and attentive staff I ve met in years of traveling!

Staff were excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Always willing to help. Location was prime. Aircon was a little undersized for the bedroom.

Mosquitos. The first night we thought we would sleep with the outside door open. Biug mistake. The buggers almost carried us away. The staff did however address the problem first thing the next morning, and after that we slept well every night

Hosted my mom’s 80th birthday lunch. It was the best experience all their staff is friendly and helpful. Del was exceptional, nothing seemed too much for her. Trevor who oversaw the waiters absolutely amazing. Receptionists, waiters, guards were all amazing

Such a warm welcome to this special place. Couldn't fault our stay. Every member of staff was so friendly and diligent. The food was exceptional and we would thoroughly recommend the tasting menu which was quite extraordinary. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

The property is lovely and clean, and the rooms were spacious and light. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast includes a cold buffet and hot menu. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner and had the tasting menu- both delicious! We only stayed one night so can’t comment too much on the location, but we felt secure.

Amazing staff, especially the guard Hendrik. Clean and safe accommodation, nice breakfast and spacious room. There are some nice bars and restaurants in the area as well.

The restaurant breakfast buffet is excellent. The dinner menu is pretentious. Order a steak, and this is all that comes on the plate. No sides and none available to order.

the location is perfect, close to the mall and lots of restaurants and galleries. the staff is very kind and supportive. the hotel is charming and very comfy. the food was delicious. there is free drinking water and coffee, and the room had a lovely balcony.

All staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was so comfortable. Walking distance to Rosebank mall and restaurants/cafes. Good selection for breakfast.

Rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious. We enjoyed dining in the hotel restaurant. For breakfast, they offer hot dishes made-to-order as well as a cold buffet (pastries, fruit, cold cuts). The staff was very warm and welcoming. They had a 24h security guard, and we felt very safe. The security guard was very attentive and seemed to remember who we were during our stay. The hotel was a 5 min walk to Rosebank Mall. We felt comfortable walking there during the day. It was a quick Uber ride back at night.

Staff in the hotel and especially the security guard was exceptionally thoughtful, friendly and helpful. Check in was also very easy.

The breakfast was disappointing. The 1 bathroom was very small, and the heater was switched on even though we kept switching it off, housekeeping always turned it on.

This was our third stay at Clico, and it has truly become our home away from home in Johannesburg. The location is ideal, and the rooms offer great comfort. The staff consistently go above and beyond, always warm and helpful, ensuring our stay is effortlessly enjoyable.

I do feel the windows and balcony doors could use a little TLC, as they are starting to show their age. While the building's historic charm is undeniable, some updates to these fittings would enhance the overall experience. I was also a bit underwhelmed with breakfast this time, as it didn’t quite meet the usual standard. I understand the chef is experimenting with new offerings, but the absence of sausages was noticeable, and the shakshuka was quite different from the one I enjoyed a few months ago. Lastly, it might be worth considering citronella candles or another solution to address the flies during breakfast service.

The bodem in the room (3) was chipped and the mesh worn. Definitely needs to be turfed out and a new one purchased.

Awesome Boutique Hotel - delicious food in the restaurant (not regular hotel food - gourmet food). Big comfortable hotel rooms, clean, nice location. Been staying at the hotel 3 times.
