Dinner was exceptional and the staff were very friendly.

It was very cold during December and there was no heating available. The room and nights were freezing..

That the dinner and breakfast were tasty and there was plenty available. The staff were helpful and friendly and the walking tour that started from the hostel was great too!

Getting to the accommodation wasn't so easy and it would've been nice to have someone meet us. Shower could've had the previous persons clothes and towel removed who was no longer staying there.

Also the hostel facilities (terraces) are amazing, perfect to hang out while enjoying nice views. thanks to samira aswell for your delicious homemade food for a very affordable price (60 dirhams)

Would be nice if guests could also use the kitchen at least for reheating food in the microwave or bowling water when samira is not using it for the hostel’s meals

Peacefull hostel in the heart of Fez’ Medina where you’ll enjoy the terraza or living room to rest after running the small streets of the city. Also offer very good diner and various services with lovely staff

Exceptional location, relaxed vibe, kind staff. Healthy free tasty breakfast (although not very filling). A great hostel for young travelers, especially when they are open for new contacts and adventures.I wouldn't be able to recommend a hostel that provides better value for your money than Funky Fes!

We went on a Sahara desert trip that was booked by Funky Fes. It was an expensive (€250) 3 day trip, so we expected to be blown away. Although we had some great moments, we were disappointed by the guides, communication and lack of hospitality. We were completely absorbed into the typical tourist traps, in which we felt like kettle being driven around from place to place, to be pushed to pay extra money at every opportunity the local people could get. We would advise Funky Fes to refer people to a different travelling agency for Desert Sahara tours than we were sent with (we still do not know what agency we went with). Funky Fes is a great, welcoming hostel that should refer people to activities that fit with that welcoming character.

Terrace was great, cool hippie style main room. Hosts let my friend & I use the study room for prayer. Very accommodating. Plenty of space in the room, good shower area and toilets. Clean.

Bed was not particularly voluptuous

The hotel staff was wonderful and very friendly. I hope to return to the same accommodation. As for the family, everything was neat and tidy in its place.

Really nicely decorated. The staff were very welcoming and so were all the people staying at the time. A safe and friendly environment with amazing food. We were able to hang around in the terrace/common areas for the day after checking out too. AC in the private room was a godsend!

A few of the lights were broken/not working, which made it a bit difficult to see, having to resort to our phone torches especially in the evening. The hot water from the tap sink was temperamental at best, often not working. Not too big of a deal as the shower water temp worked fine. Would still return here for future visits for sure!

Breakfast is simple, nothing fancy and good enough. All you can eat. They have dinner too. Staffs are helpful. Roof top is good too.

We liked the decorations, the riad's location also the staff in the reception were helpful, bed and pillow sheets were clean, there was air conditioning inside the room 😌 break fast was decent. Generally speaking the riad meets the requirements for a good stay.

The guy working at the reception was really polite and kind and also spoke excellent english. Breakfast was abundant and tasty. The walking tour they offer was also great.

There was not enough light in the room I stayed.

Nothing really

I really like the vibe, they had music at night and you could sign up for trips and dinner too so that was cool.

There is only one toilet and shower per room and they’re combined so you have to wait for people all the time.

The staff is very friendly. Dinners are also available and very good. Good ambience and nice people.

I bought a tour to Volubilis and Meknes and I discovered on spot that guide and other expenses were not included. I suggest more transparency next time.

Very nice staff, welcoming and willing to share part of their culture with you. We had a great time there, especially when chilling on the terrace.

Good vibes, nice interior and awesome rooftops! The dinner was also really good and the vegetarian option even cheaper, that's was a big plus!

Staff is nice. The living room is the best place. The BEST was dinner. Homemade and exquisite.

Lack of cleaning. If you don't have allergies for the flees, there is a dog and a cat living there. it's ok then. NO possible to have any locker, even there were 8 beds. We took 2 beds and even so, all of them were occupied the 2 nights we've been there.

I liked all thinking without exception, the price, the staff, the design of building and music, and the terrasse, filling free 😀

The receptionist was very kind, they spoke English and it was easy to communicate. The hall and common areas were nicely decorated. Good location.

When we arrived they said that our room was recently painted so it smelled a lot. Therefore they re located us in a room that they use for co-working. We slept in big sofas that were comfortable, but not what we booked.

Location, price, terrace

There was a male staff member that was very rude on the way he treated some travelers (for no reason), he should be reminded that hospitality is about treating customers politely and leaving the attitude outside work time. The shared kitchen should be improved, same with the WiFi signal.

Bedsheet was dirty

The internet is excellent. The breakfast is decent: Bread, vegetables, ONE egg per person as they clearly specify, and coffee/tea. It is a good place to meet other travellers since it is almost always full and has good common areas.

It's very disorganised, one night someone took the bed that was assigned to me so I had to switch rooms, not entirely the staff's fault, but they could improve their attention to detail. They also do not provide recommendations/guidance other than the tours they sell. They have a puppy, but do a poor job of looking after him, letting him pee and poop all over the hostel.

I liked the view on the rooftop, the location in the Medina, the staff was so welcoming and the breakfast was basic but for the price you pay, it is fair!

The Guy of the reception was awesome and so friendly and helpful!

The location is good, the atmosphere is relaxed and definitely you'll have the chance to meet fellow travelers. The structure itself is beautiful, with a big rooftop terrace. Beds, bathrooms and showers were ok.

Some guests honestly were weird. A German middle aged man ate almost all the breakfast buffet not caring about other guests. The guy from the staff shamed him for that, but the man seemed really not to care. So sad some people travel just to save money and don't mind about local culture and habits. But the weirdest thing happened in my room. A woman staying there had a kind of aggressive attitude, and one night she had an argument with a young girl about the window being open or closed: the thing escalated quickly and became a violent altercation. The young girl ended up in tears and had to move to another room. Extreme.

Loved the whole vibe. The people working there and the ones I met. The central living, terraces, the dinner. Absolutely great value for money. Next time in Fez, Funky will be my first choice, and not only for the convenience.

Best quality price report ! 6-7€ per night, Moroccan breakfast included! The staff is so welcoming, gives useful advice and is adorable. Rooftop with a view of the Medina, enough to spend evenings with other travellers. . Shower and toilet in each dormitory. Locker (loan of padlock if necessary), towel (on deposit). They also offer an excursion to Chefchaouen (the blue city) and Merzouga (Sahara). I attach the photo. There is also a morning guided tour at a low price offered in the Medina, which is good when you do not feel like venturing alone for your debut in Morocco. Dinner also offered on site for 50dh.

Shared kitchen that does the trick but very basic and quite dirty. The bathroom would need refreshment.

Very friendly good value for money hostel. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms (6 bedroom dorm) well spaced, and the bathroom whilst looking extremely aged had everything in working order. Wifi was pretty good, and worked best downstairs. Breakfast was the only let down, whilst not bad, the bread being served seemed to be yesterdays stale leftovers. Met a lot of very interesting people and had numerous great disucssion most mornings and evenings. Overall, given the price, we'd stay here again.

The location of the hostel is amazing, the vibe of the place and the facilites are great. The staff is also very helpful and friendly. The beds are Ok and the rooms are spacious. Definitely would stay here again.

Cleanliness could be improved a bit. The kitchen has little stuff to cook and a very small fridge, in case people wants to cook often.

They say they serve breakfast till 10 am but at 9 am the breakfast (some piece of tomato, cucumber, bread, oranges and boiled eggs) was already finished. Only 1 toilet in every room for 10 people
