More photosTucked away on a leafy street in Palermo Hollywood, Home Hotel was founded in the mid-2000s by an Irish-British couple, Patricia O’Shea and music producer Tom Rixton. After moving from Europe to Argentina and getting married, they realized they wanted to build a boutique spot that mirrored the exact hospitality and comfort they would offer their own friends and family. They became early pioneers of the city’s boutique and eco-design hotel scene.
The interior design is a brilliant nod to mid-century modern style, but the real showstoppers are the walls. The owners spent years hunting through global flea markets to curate a massive collection of original vintage wallpapers. Every single room features a different design, sporting authentic prints from France, Germany, and Scandinavia that date anywhere from 1923 through the 1980s.
Outside, the property opens up into a hidden botanical wonderland. The lush backyard garden is packed with flowers, vines, and visiting hummingbirds, surrounding a solar-heated swimming pool and an outdoor fireplace. There is even a friendly resident black cat that roams the grounds, giving the entire space the layout and warmth of a private artist’s estate rather than a standard lodging option.
When you are ready to venture out, the surrounding neighborhood is famed as Buenos Aires’ premier culinary and nightlife hub. For cultural day trips, a quick taxi ride easily connects you to iconic attractions like the Evita Museum, the sprawling Bosques de Palermo parks, and the world-class Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires (MALBA).

Very nice, but shadowed by the impression it was a bit of rip off.
Great atmosphere in a very nice location. Amazing concierge, providing all support for restaurant bookings
When booking we had only the option of the most expensive room, and then in the hotel we realized it wasn’t fully booked.

Great and helpful staff.
The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They made great restaurant recommendations and even made reservations for us.
The hotel was a bit farther from the main parts of town than I had anticipated.

The staff was amazing. We would stay again just for them, but everything was incredible.
The beds were a little stiff, but still a very comfortable sleep.

The perfect sanctuary in Buenos Aires
I had an exceptional experience at Home Hotel. The hotel is in a great location for tourists - either walking distance or a short Uber ride to the top restaurants and tourist attractions - though it maintains a peaceful, secluded feel. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the concierge provided some excellent recommendations for restaurants. My room was comfortable, clean and equipped with all the modern amenities. Breakfast was a highlight, with a variety of fresh pastries and fruit as well as an extensive complimentary breakfast menu. I also had an excellent massage at the hotel’s spa.

Gorgeous room that feels like home in the hippest neighborhood in BA
The king poolside suite is absolutely lovely. Feels so roomy because of the patio. Loved the furniture, decor, location, neighborhood, staff, and restaurant. What a beautiful property…couldn’t have picked a better place to stay in BA!
The bed was a little too firm for our preference. Other than that, everything was absolutely perfect.

We had an amazing stay at Home Hotel. From pre-trip questions, which were conveniently answered on WhatsApp, to transportation arrangements and check-in, the staff was more than accommodating, friendly and super helpful. The room was spotless, fresh and cozy. I loved the decor and safe and secure feeling of the room and the grounds. The bar/restaurant was super convenient and the complimentary breakfast was supreme! The neighborhood was lovely with more than plenty of places to eat and shop. A quick stroll to SoHo Palermo was an added bonus.
I didn't like that I had to end my stay!
