It actually started out in 1992 as the GLG Grand, named after its eccentric developer, G. Lars Gullstedt. He poured $250 million into building this 50-story neoclassical giant, but sadly went bankrupt just two years later. The Four Seasons swooped in by 1997, turning a real estate flop into a crown jewel.
The design by architecture firm Rabun Hatch is a massive flex. The building’s lower half is made of gorgeous Spanish pink granite, topped by an eye-catching, multi-tiered pyramid peak that lights up the Atlanta skyline at night.
Inside, it’s all about the grand staircase in the lobby, which feels straight out of a movie. A lesser-known quirk? The upper floors aren’t hotel rooms at all—they’re high-end residential condos, meaning you might share an elevator with local CEOs or celebrities.
It is also home to Bar Margot, a moody, retro-cool lounge named after a character in The Royal Tenenbaums. It’s widely considered the birthplace of Atlanta’s modern craft cocktail scene.
