Hostel Les Piaules, Paris

The bed was comfortable, there were enough power outlets, decent WIFI and friendly staff. The area if full of immigrants, thus foreign restaurants and shops, but still feels pretty close to the center. The atmosphere and interior is nice and there is a cafe with events at the ground floor. A welcoming drink which doesn't include a lot of drinks.

A guest gets the impression of secret expenses which show up for the stuff that should normally be included. Like having to buy a lock for the room locker, slippers, towels, toothpaste, etc. There is only 1 toilet and 2 showers in one floor so this can create a queue and the noise isolation is bad, and no one likes to feel uncomfortable there.

- social aspect was lacking - top bunk bed was super high, felt dangerous. - bathroom mirrors were so high, I couldn’t even see myself.

Clean hostel with a nice bar and kindly staff! It was really nice to stay and I'm coming back!

The bathroom can be cleaner.

The bar was fun and affordable, and the location was great--very close to Couronnes metro stop and the 96 bus which goes by most major tourist locations. There were lots of affordable food options nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great music at the bar including jazz night and DJ sets.

The bar had a "local hangout" vibe which made it harder to meet other travelers--would have preferred a social space mainly for guests. There was no guest kitchen or laundry facilities, and I didn't like charging for luggage storage the day of check-in or check out. Having paid laundry facilities or offering wash and fold services for guests would be helpful so you don't have to waste time trying to find them. I had a D bed in a 6-bed dorm. The bed was basically on the floor, and I had to crawl around on the floor like an animal to get in and out of the bed. At least once, I got hit by the door while crawling out of bed because the bed is at floor level right next to the room door. The next bed overhangs the end of the bed and I stubbed my toes multiple times. There were also two straps for the curtains which were relatively narrow together, and made it harder for me to get in and out as a bigger guy (that won't be an issue for most people, but the other things certainly would). I would reject being offered this bed, and I felt a little upset as I had requested a bottom bed for accessibility and received this, which was not particularly accessible. Staff should keep that in mind if anyone requests a bottom bed and give them a bed which is a normal height Because the bed was so low, I really had nowhere to sit in the room--there were no chairs--which made it harder to pack. The room was far too small for a 6-dorm, and the lockers weren't really big enough to put a suitcase into (even carry on size) which made the room very cluttered. The heating in the rooms and public buildings was very, very high--probably upper 20s or low 30s Celsius. I could not find a thermostat or way to lower the heat in the dorm, and opening the window made the room very cold. The 5th floor men's showers smelled strongly of mold, although the showers themselves looked clean.

I did bot like the fact that to use the basement luggage room, you have to pay the machine to open and close the door of a locker for you. There are other systems in which guests can deposit a 2 euro coin to be able to use the locker, and when they bring the key back and open the locker, the deposit coin will be released (it works Mecanically- no electricity/computer involved)

The bar was so good and we could have chats with other travellers and I had enjoyed

I didn’t know why I had to pay for lockers when I wanted to put my luggage before checking in.

One toilet for 20 people is probably not sufficient

I asked the reception for a charger, he was not helpful to lead me to a shop or find me one

The position was good. Easily walkable to many sites, 2 metros, Gare du nord. Reasonable locker storage too, 4 euros for a day.

Bedroom was a bit tight on space. It was 6 bed but as only 4 in it was manageable.

The location was excellent! Very close to metro stations. The staff were really nice and helpful, and I got a complementary mini drink

The location was good! The people at the reception have a good attitude, having a few good-natured ladies and a person named Christine (if I have said his name correctly) is very polite, kind and helpful.

The picture of entrance door did not match, in fact the entrance door opened in the bar، which caused trouble for passengers. The elevator wasn't working early every morning! At the reception has a guy with curly hair was not very interested in his job, for example, I asked him to stay one more night, he told me my bed had booked with someone else and quickly put me in another room, and he took the room fee two times expensive than before. During I was going back to the room suddenly he said made a mistake that put me in the girls' private room and canceled it and said there were not empty bed (he was very confused, he looked drunk or something like that). Also, asked him address of someplace, he acted as if he was a tourist.

Very uncomfortable beds, even if there is a lower bed, you need to make an effort to climb onto it, not to mention the beds that are higher. I would like to drink hot coffee for breakfast, which you buy extra, and not cold coffee.

I liked very much the location, it was near the metro with easy access to the centre. The room was quite nice on the last floor with great view. Breakfast was ok although i was expecting more variety. The area downstairs was cozy and warm with special events some nights. The staff was nice. Special thanks to the receptionist who was late at night at the reception, i think his name was Gabie, who helped me before my trip to find the easiest way to get to the airport.🙂

The room although nice it was a bit small but it was ok. The room was cleaned everyday but during my stay the sheets were not changed. Only changed when another person a new customer was coming. Breakfast as i said was ok although small for the price. I was expecting more variety for the XL breakfast. During my stay someone from the room stole my bottles of shampoo, body shower gel and hair gel but the reception was kind and she offered to give me something similar from the lost and found.

Great staff and spacious beds. This hostel also offers a lot socially, such as the karaoke night!

The rooms are not very spacious and the location isn't the safest.

It would be even better if there was some shelf in the bed cabin. Only one men toilet for the whole floor.

The mattresses were really comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice and clean. The water pressure in the showers were great and there is a hairdryer in the bathroom too. They also give you a towel for free. It’s great that the hostel in only a few minutes walk from the metro and they also give you a few local places that are good to visit (e.g. bakeries).

I was disappointed that there was no kitchen, I asked to put a container in the fridge overnight and they refused. There’s also no shower products in the bathroom. The rooms are quite cramped and small. The bottom bunk bed was oddly high because the lockers were right underneath my bed (not all bottom bunks are designed this way though). It was a bit uncomfortable to get on and off of my bed. The light in the room is terrible, after sunset even when you turn the light on you can barely see anything.

The rooms were nice and warm during winter. Receptionists were welcoming, helpful and easy to get along with. There is a luggage storage downstairs (4 euro for small locker, 5 euro for a big one).

Getting on the top bed was quite difficult. You had to grab a material string, which can be seen on photos. Except for that, the stay was great.

Nice location, nice staff, clean bathroom, near metro, near bakery and coffee, convenient store all around and there is an early weekly wet market right in front of the hostel.

If u travel with a backpack, its ok. But if u r on a trip with a big suitcase, then the space in the dorm is very small and it’s inconvenient for unpacking and packing. The mirror in the bathroom is hanged quite high for an average Asian girl ( my height 1m62) so it a bit annoying when u do skincare 😅

I loved the atmosphere in the lounge, it was nice, lively and democratic. I didn’t really know what to expect as it was my first experience staying in a hostel. I had seen pictures from different hostels but I didn’t expect the room to be quite that cramped.

I thought the room was a little claustrophobic. If one of the guests were up packing or getting ready to settle or to go out there was no room for anyone else to do anything due to the lack of space.

Loved the atmosphere and the very friendly staff. It was clean, warm and my room was also very quiet. The bathroom was clean as well and the water was hot! :) I also liked the curtains on the beds for privacy.

My mattress was a bit worn out. In the last hostel I stayed I slept better than at home lol, here a bit worse. Not a problem for a night or two but I stayed 6. Also there is only one power outlet on the wall in the bed and that is used for the lamp, so you have to unplug it to charge your phone at the bed.
