Honiton Golf Club: (Tel 01404 44422) A flat parkland course of around 6,000 yards, par 69. This is an elevated site two miles south of the town with some magnificent views, especially the 7th Tee and 9th Fairway. Friendly atmosphere, excellent catering and facilities. Signature hole is the par 3, 4th played over trees into a fast sloping green surrounded by woodland.
Woodbury Park Golf and Country Club: (Tel 01395 233382) A Championship Course developed by Nigel Mansell, this course has it all and is just five minutes away. Trees, lakes, lush fairways, immaculate buggy paths etc. The Clubhouse wants for nothing with a terrace overlooking the signature 18th, a par 3 over water to a sloping green surrounded by sand! Two course, The Oaks, 6571-yard par 72 and the 9 hole Acorn course with its second hole is perhaps one of the best in the county.
East Devon Golf Club: (Tel 01395 443370) Positioned on the cliff tops above Budleigh Salterton is this heathland course of 6214with par being just 70. Traditional clubhouse, good practice facilities and greens that would get away from the Olympic 100 metre gold medallist comprise a wonderful challenge not to be missed if at all possible.
Sidmouth Golf Club: (Tel 01395 513451) The first floor restaurant and bar gives you a choice of staring out across the English Channel or looking back over a course that would have tested all your skills! Steep but thoughtful with greens as fast as you will get in East Devon, this course is a challenge. Wonderful scenery leads you to the elevated tee of the 10th looking back over the last 9 fairways and forwards towards the next 9 holes and France! Special prices for Combe guests (please ask at reception).
The Warren Golf Club: (Tel 01626 862255). Never closing, seaside links course in its own peninsula forming the southern side of the mouth of the Exe. Flanked by a bird sanctuary on one side and racing tidal waters on the other, there is much to see if your golf is off! Flat, sandy fairways of over 5,900 yards provide an adequate test to match the par of 69.
Exeter Golf and Country Club. (Tel 01392 874139) Typical urban course set under the backdrop of the stately Clubhouse and only minutes from the heart of Exeter, with its wonderful Cathedral and City Walls. Only 6061 yards but its par of 62 gives away the standard of difficulty. Level and defined fairways give way to thick rough and encroaching out-of-bounds; accuracy is a must.
Tiverton Golf Club : (Tel 01884 252187) 6263 yards of lush, tree lined fairways weave their way around the re-built clubhouse which offers superb catering and bar facilities. The course is just 7 miles from Junction 27 (M5) some 3 miles west of Tiverton. Try to avoid the Canal on the Third and think very carefully playing into the cauldron of the 12th.
Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club: (Tel 01803 421537) Tucked behind and above the exquisite village of Corfe, 4 miles south of Taunton, this is a course for all abilities. There are some quite tricky holes as well as reasonably simple ones – good course management will ensure a good score over the 5927 yards of undulating parkland! Quite superb clubhouse and facilities. Our highlighted hole is the 17th. A par 4…will you dare cut the corner?
